If this has already been discussed before, I apologize.
I was just skimming through comic covers today, and is it just me--I hope not--or does the cover of Marvel's "Chamber of Darkness" #2 remind anyone of a certain VH1 cover?
Homages and just plain coincidences between cover art always interests me.

Heck yes it does!
I don't know enough to know if they did this on purpose, but I'm begining not to believe so much in coincidence any more.

Seems like VALIANT did this a lot. Was it more of a tribute or what?

The covers are similar, but it's a bit of a stretch for me to say that they are so close that it's a tribute.
I mean, a figure coming out of a doorway into a crowded dark room. With as many comics as there are out there, surely it's happened more than twice.

Armorines #12 and Harbinger #13 are this first two that spring to mind. I'm sure there's got to be at least a few others.

Armorines #12 is a tribute to X-Men #138.
Harby #13 is a tribute to Dark Knight Returns #1.

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Re: Shadowman #8 and Chamber of Darkness #2, I think it's just a coincidence.
I think it's more likely that they were playing with the image from Shadowman's own symbol (a shadowy figure standing in a doorway).

I think you're right.
I'm not sure about Mirage 7 but Rai 0 was from a Punisher pin up and there was the copycat cover month on all the Vh2 books.

The only reason I noticed it was because I have that X-men issue. Randomly the only one in the 100 range I have, but the similarities caught my eye when I recently picked up a run of Armorines.

Really? That was the first thing I thought when I first saw it in '95.

There's also New Mutants #99, which is also an homage to X-Men #138.
