i'm SO glad i avoided civil war.

this man survived ww2, being frozen, more beatings then can be counted...he was a werewolf for christsakes.

and THIS is how quesada choses to generate a bump in sales?

shot from a distance? why the hell didn't AIM or baron zemo think of this 40 years ago? oh wait...i know, because it's *SQUEE* stupid.

i wouldn't take one of these things if they were giving them away...i'll for sure not pay marvel and reward them for what i think is an atrocious idea.

they replaced cap once remember?

can anyone say "us agent"?

this blows...if ever this country needed captain america, it's now.

i'm just sad and angry.

i know cap's hard to write, i know cap's 40's blind patriotism is a tough sell, but *SQUEE*...don't resort to cheap theatrics to garner attention.

i was excited for world war hulk...now, i think i'll pass.

hulk will probably start beheading girlscouts, quoting stalin, and wearing a giant purple prom dress or some crap.

they're about to do the same stinking thing to daredevil as well...the "last" daredevil story.

<groan>

until steve rogers returns, make mine back issues or essentials.

Probably could find a used one in his size pretty cheap.

Fat chicks like purple.

Just get the tears and mascara stains out of it.

You won't have to wait long.

A movie is coming out, he is a cornerstone character and you're right . . .we do need him now.

There will be a big return, it may not even be him that was shot . . just try to enjoy the story. Civil war as a whole was actually pretty good if you just rode the wave . . . It ended the only way it could have and doing this in the Civil War mini would have cheapened it. It's still a stunt but not necessarily a bad one.

Cap deserves the attention . . Many people will buy and read the book and we know he wont come back as 4 possible people or as a red cap, blue cap and white cap . . . :)

My LCS should have quite a few when I take off here in a few... what is the saturation on the variants ? 1 every 50, 1 every 75 or 50/50 ?

A regular sized issue has a cover price of $1.99 to 3.50. With $2.99 being the norm. The Cap is $3.99 cover because it is extra sized. :thumb:

why are the prices so high on ebay?

Is it people that don't have a comic store.......

I mean, if I have sold stuff before on ebay and knew how to do it.... I would sell some and just do like a buy it now for like $20.... and be happy with the extra cash.

some bids are like $40-$50-even $71!

I would have tolerated this crap if it had happened during CW #7. If Cap died in the middle of a battle, that would have fit his character. Instead he gives up and is killed my a sniper???? I am so glad I didn't get into Civil War. The only new book that interested me recently was Dark Tower.

14 years since Superman died... obviously a "new generation" of bad purchases is underway.

Makes you wonder what the price would have been on Ebay if Superman #75
had been released "today" instead of then.

Well I stopped into my only LCS to find it out of Cap 25 both covers (distrobuted 50/50 btw) BUT the guy did save me a copy... the variant copy.

And looking at Ebay prices... :hm:

Another book that may cause some 'stir' is:

Civil War: The Initiative (it has the assassination story in it as well)

Mark my words...

Best Auction Description Ever

"IN STOCK NOW! Look, we all know what this is...is he dead? Well, his comic isn't cancelled, his image is still on the Marvel website, and c'mon...isnt there a movie coming out with him? But if all you guys are paying stupid $$$, then why try to stop you...i will be HAPPY to take your hard earned $$$."

Yeah the 'variants' are getting bizarre money.
The sets are doing even better. One is at $75 with 17 hour left on his one day auction.
I guess Joe Q. was on CNN and other news agencies. That is where most of the attention is coming from. Very much like Superman 75, the media is pushing interest. As long as people want to read a story about Captain America and are not expecting to pay for their kids college with this book then the extra attention is fine by me.

It makes me think of an old What IF Cap book where.....oops (for Myron) spoilers below....

where Steve refuses to give up being Captain America only to be assassinated by a lone gunman. Ronald Reagan then appoints U.S. Agent to be the new Cap, but he turns out to be more like the Punisher the way he terrorizes the bad guys. Hmm... maybe that book will be worth something now.

Ok. This perfectly demonstrates the total head up their *SQUEE* approach publishers have towards comic publishing.

For the first time in maybe 15 years, I decided to hunt these down....within hours of shops opening on the day of release.

I went to four shops.....all sold out.

I ended up with a F/VF copy.

One copy.

I paid FULL PRICE for a F/VF copy.

Here I was, with money to PAY....and none of the shops had them.

Those shops LOST MONEY because they didn't have any...they didn't have any because the stupid publisher didn't TELL THEM what it was.

As a result, idiot flippers who had no business buying comics were waiting for stores to open, so they could gouge collectors, and as a result, they were all sold out.

WITHIN HOURS OF OPENING ON THE DAY OF RELEASE.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?????

Stupidity.

Total stupidity.

No, this isn't. Why?

Because no one at Marvel could be bothered to let RETAILERS KNOW.

Bump in sales?

Not bloody likely.
