MOTA, making threats of action, where serious our not, can still be perceived as a threat. When going to the University of MN, I knew and individual that made a threat, jokingly, about a political official. That individual was arrested and detained pending an investigation. Yes, that is an extreme example. But the fact is, the guy has publicly expressed his "fear." And being a high priced lawyer, he has the resources to through money around and make life difficult for people other than VEI. I'm not saying what he is doing is right, however.
And btw, I loved the Monty Python reference X-O hobojoe.

Well, if you don't think being able to speak your mind is a big deal, then good for you.Dr. Solar wrote:Dude! Unless it's making you money, it's really really not a big deal.

Dude, if you want to live in fear that's your prerogative. I choose not to live my life like that, and I choose to speak my mind, and I choose to confront those who want to stifle it.schi0249 wrote:MOTA, making threats of action, where serious our not, can still be perceived as a threat. That may not be acceptable in the paranoid/PC world that America's become today, but in the America I grew up reading about and learning about that was one of the most important things worth living for.
I'm not going to let a mod drunk with power that's scared of a lying lawyer dictate what I can or can't say. If I want to make a joke I'm free to make it, and if he doesn't get it (or if he thinks it's not tasteful, or he feels it offends him, or he feels people might be threatened by it) then he doesn't have to read it.

Isn't that a bit much. Bring back the Monty Python quote Hobo. I mean seriously, all that they are asking is that we exercise a little self control, which as it has been stated before we were supposed to be doing in the first place. What is the big deal, there is no need to throw yourself up on a cross over this issue. Just let it go.ManofTheAtom wrote:Dude, if you want to live in fear that's your prerogative. The first three reminded me of an Ice-T song, for some reason. Can't remember the name of it right now. But the third seemed out of place once the lyrics started going through my head.Dr. Solar wrote:I put money, women, power, and personal health above speaking my mind on message boards.ManofTheAtom wrote:Well, if you don't think being able to speak your mind is a big deal, then good for you.Dr. Solar wrote:Dude! You ever notice how few message boards are dedicated to banging the hell outta hot chicks? I'm on quite a few of them. A lot of them tend to be yahoo groups rather than message boards though.

As a moderator DJ has the right to edit and/or delete anything he feels is in bad taste. Greg gave him that power because he trusts him. So complaining about your posts being edited or deleted does not do any good. Argueing with the moderator is not a good idea anyways. Your choice. Have fun with that.
