not to be a *SQUEE*, but is there any reason you wanted all of those? (The price was right, though)

Unity Red CGC 9.6 for 45.44! Very nice. Unslabbed unity reds sell for that much and you are lucky if they would grade 9.2/9.4

Just got back from my LCS and there is a big book clearance going on, so I got Max Alias HC for $6 and Daredevil Vol. 3 HC for $6 and last night I stopped by a Hasting's which is going out of business and got Batman: Year One and Max Punisher TPBs for $3 a piece.

If anyone is interested there are some more of the Alias and Daredevil Vol. 3 HCs left at my LCS along with some Daredevil: Yellow HC. There were others there but I can't remember what they were if you want one of the ones I listed and you pm your phone number then I will go and buy some of them and call you from the store to tell you what they have. Lots of TPBs were up there for a few bucks also.

Also they started a 5 for a dollar bin, finally. Seems all of my prodding amounted to something. I picked up Battler Britton 1 and 2 from there, not bad since they have only been out for a couple of months, I kept eyeballing them, but couldn't ever commit to the full price. I will let you know how they are.

This deal happened many years ago but I was reminded of it today and thought I would share. The Valiant pre-Unity back issue craze was just getting ramped up and I was at a comic convention back in Portland. I couldn't believe some of the prices and I was kicking myself for not buying more extra copies than I did. Anyway, I saw one dealer selling Harbinger 1-5 in really nice condition - I am very picky about the condition of my books - and at a less crazy price than others. And I saw another dealer who really wanted to buy pre-Unity Valiants. So, I started talking deals with both of them and in the end, I bought the run from one dealer and sold the 2-5 to the other dealer for the same price so I walked away with a beautiful Harbinger 1 with coupon for free! That was a $100 book back then.

I recently sent in my best Harbinger 1 to get graded and it came back 9.8. I wonder if it was the free one :hm:

thanks, DJ. The price was especially sweet since I've recently been outbid on two other copies for sale:

Yeah it's nice to stumble across an auction that doesn't draw a lot of attention because the seller didn't list everything properly. I've won quite a few auctions over the years like that. Of course that was before we had so many members all looking for bargains as well.....

Mis-spelling always helps (right, Rufus? ) so one tip I always do while bargain-hunting on the 'Bay is looking for "VALIENT" comics.

Cool story. It's fun when there's a little history/story attached to your Valiants. It was an exciting time back then. I guess you could say it is again. :thumb:
