A question to all you G.I. Joe/Transfomer collectors...
i'm heading to WW Chicago this weekend, and we finally sorted out all our G.I. Joe and Transformers extra pieces. we have literally thousand of pieces.
my question: what are typical prices to sell these pieces for?
G.I. Joe guns/back packs/etc
Transformers guns/missles/etc
obviously the more popular character stuff would cost a bit more, but does anyone have a base to start at?
$1 a piece? $2 a piece? a % of the total loose figure value?
any thoughts would be appreciated!!!
(and if anyone needs anything, let me know )
thanks!

ditto, I can identify Transformer parts in my sleep, post a pic if you have oneJohnnyRnR wrote:If you can take pictures of the lot, I bet we can give you better prices. For TF's from the original line (G1 or Generation 1) $1 to $2 a piece is too cheap for most parts. And generally, the smaller the gun/whatever, the more it's worth.
Transformer parts are/can almost be worth more than the figures sometimes, depending on what you have, if you have 100's of parts, you could litterly make 100's off a lot on eBay
www.transformerland.com is also helpful with identifying figures and parts, if you have the time to sort

You could use the "psychological warfare" approach.
If you price them too high, people will be turned off. If you price them too low, people will buy them up and you will be out a lot of potential money.
Don't price them at all, and let people pay you what they think they are worth. You will probably make more money. People tend to be a lot more honest when people are counting on them to be.
Such evil tricks...

www.tfu.info has images of Transformers parts but you'd have to browse through all of them to compare.

I don't know much about Transformers toys (they were too expensive for my poor family when I was a kid) but every now and then I do look to eBay for a particular accessory or vehicle part. Then I see the prices they're charging, figure in shipping, decide I'm not paying that much and close the window. But then, my Snow Cat still doesn't have a windshield wiper...

There is some of books of use:
The first one is called TransManual vols. 1 and 2 that has plenty of pictures of various parts for the original U.S. Transformers toys
(The whole G1 line) they're quite hard to find now of days.
Antarctic Press released Cybertronian: Transformers Field Guide
that covers most (but not all) of the G1 Transformers toys and parts in a
digest size book (it ends goes up to original Headmasters and Targetmasters) you might be able to find it at your LCS for $35.
Antarctic Press also released a more detailed series of books that cover
the entire U.S. G1 line to the first half of the Beast Wars toy line in about 7 books but they are expensive as hell.

I've seen clips go anywhere between $5-10 a piece. This was about 2-3 years ago when I was constantly buying Jetfire lots to complete multiple full boxed sets. I remember the box and styrofoam alone went for around $100.daydreamscomics wrote:how much we talking? (we have one)Unblessed wrote:Jetfire's gun clip is... I really hate this word... RARE.
That is all.

Let me know if you need help identifying Transformers parts as well. I'm pretty well versed in the Gen 1 line.speedracex wrote:ditto, I can identify Transformer parts in my sleep, post a pic if you have oneJohnnyRnR wrote:If you can take pictures of the lot, I bet we can give you better prices. Make sure you identify Fort Max's accessories as they're usually the most expensive out of all the Gen 1 line. I think Spike alone can usually bring in about $100.superman-prime wrote:im digging through all the old transformers i had as a kid wow theres some money
