With Shocker Toy's attitude, it's not surprising that the company is called Shocker.
Image
Take the criticism and work with it. If the people on these boards don't like them, who will? If that's not the final product, why not say "this is not the final product". Guess Shocker
ImageToys must not do too much business.

Shocker Toys guy, are you really a rep of that company? If you are you should be nicer. Only fanboys are allowed to be snarky. You represent your company and you know a reputation can get around the net. If you guys are going to make Turok, Magnus, and Solar in my lifetime, I'll be happy to buy them, but they have to stack up w/the great stuff that's already out there, Marvel Toys is making some awesome indie characters. I hope your stuff can compete in articulation and overall quality. I also hope they are in scale w/the toys out there now. Believe me if you can stack them up to the figures that are available, and they are in scale they'll sell better than if they're not. Obviously they're a long way off, but if you had to estimate when would we see a prototype and realistically, when would they be available to buy? The scud fiasco is well known. how long does a toy company have the rights to produce toys till it's lost?

Shocker Toys has the rights to make the figure. They have the prototype, have had it for quite some time. No figure. no release date. No sales. If you do a search on the net you'll find an interview where even the creator is frustated and has voiced his concern as to when this will ever happen.

You should probably make Solar's face green then. Gold Key Solar had "green skin",
Valiant (VEI) Solar has beige skin. Since you don't have VEI's permission,
you probably should stick to green skin Gold Key Solar... just because you're so into legalities and all.

Maybe not enough people have ordered it to justify making it.

Remember the VH 2 X-O Manowar action figure?

Skybolt Toys had the rights and made two prototypes, but the figure never came out.
X-O MANOWAR ACTION FIGURE!
Blasting his way off the pages of the popular comic book is the scorching hot, hobby market exclusive, X-O Manowar action figure from Skybolt Toyz! The X-O action figure is highly detailed with articulation at the neck, shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. X-O's armored suit is completely vacuum metalized-a hobby market exclusive first- and the figure stands a towering six-and-one-half inches tall. X-O also comes with a removable visor and a pull-out chest medallion with "snap-back" action. A customized collector's display stand will be included with every figure. Cases come packed with 2 Stealth X-O variant action figures! Chrome Edition is limited in production to 5,000 units! (CAUT: 4)

Regular Figure $12.95
Case of 6 (4 reg. + 2 Stealth variants) $77.70
Chrome Edition $14.95
Heh, "popular". There's false advertising for you.

Technically though if they wanted couldn't they release figures with new names? I mean we can get Bloodshot under Rising Spirit, some of the Harbinger kids w/their character names, Pete Stanchek, sure not as exciting as if they could be marketed w/their famous names, but when it comes to figures their visuals are what stands out. Plus isn't X-O's name not in contention? I would release the whole line as X-O Manowar and just include the rest of the Valiant universe with alternate names. I wish they would just proceed with the comics under new names, continue the legal battle and just change them when they win, God forbid if they don't win at least we wouldn't have to wait till the end of the legal process to get new material.

As VEI has shown with the release of the Harbinger HC, they don't feel the need to change the character's names nor that there's any contention.

VIP doesn't own the trademarks, the two companies are fighting for control of them, and the best way for them to win them is by using them.

VEI can release toys or other items that use any of the trademarks VIP is going after without worry.

The only problem is finding distribution, however, as it was shown when Diamond refused to release the HC... but even then VEI has shown that they can handle that themselves, while retailers have shown that they have no problem carrying their product.

I wouldn't worry too much, I'm sure we'll see Eternal Warrior, Bloodshot, and even (urgh) Quantum & Woody comics from VEI, VALIANT's rightful owners.

as far as Scud in concerned, I'm not a 100% but I don't think they've even gotten to the stage of placing orders to gauge interest.

Ah

In that case, there's nothing to worry about. They'll offer it when it's ready.

Valiant may not own Solar, but they could market a Phil Seleski/Destroyer couldn't they? Sure he's not as cool as Solar, but he's still Phil Seleski.

Hell that's nothing, Hasbro has made ton of prototype Transformers (just for example the Titanium Shockwave, Arcee, and Cosmos) that will most likely never be made in the Titanium line.

Sure, but they could also make a two-pack wih both figures ;)

I'd love to get a "Solar Schizo-pack" action figure that has Solar and the Destroyer.

"Now you too can enact the momentous birth of the Destroyer with this two-figure set!!"

See that's the whole issue. It should be ready at this point. I am not concerned for Scud figures. If they are going to make Solar/Magnus and Turok 6 inch figures in 3 years, where as another company can produce them in 1 year, I would like to know why it takes them sooo long.

Making toys is hard, maybe there were production problems or something we as consumers aren't privvy to.

Man of the Atom as snarky as this sounds Im not trying to be but You know I'm not really coming to you for the answers. You're just speculating yourself. And while I appreciate your ideas, you almost sound like an apologist for the company. I think the shocker toys guy should answer the question when he has the chance. Unless of course you are his lawyer or work for Shocker Toys. I'm sure it's difficult to produce things but when you've reached the prototype stage you should be able to schedule production and release dates.

That's correct.

No only is it somewhat condescending for the Shocker Toys rep to state:
Shocker Toys wrote:Oh and VEI won't be making anything as they are in legal limbo still...
...it is also inaccurate.

(There's a "Shocker"... they don't know what they're talking about!)

The vast majority of the Valiant universe is completely owned by VEI,
and it is NOT in any "legal limbo". Even those few trademarks being disputed
do not affect the IMAGES of the characters, which VEI already owns.
It is the images/likenesses that are needed to create toys,
and the trademarks only affect what names can be used on the packaging.
Many of the trademarks already belong to VEI as well...
X-O Manowar, Shadowman, Archer & Armstrong, etc... all 100% VEI. Today.

At any rate, Shocker Toys seems to think that statements like "Oh and VEI won't be making anything..."
are going to make members of ValiantFans.com into fans of Shocker Toys?

It's time to turn off the Gwar videos and hire a new PR person.

Heh, no, no, I'm nothing of the sort.

I'm just trying to look at the situation with an objective perspective.

*SQUEE* happens, u know? There could be a hundred reasons why the toy hasn't come out yet.
