Old books sure as its much harder to determine those .2 etc but modern books should be so much easier to grade.

Would you not be better off spending less than half that amount on unslabbed ones which you can see with your own eyes whether they are gorgeous or not. You might well end up with 5 9.8's for a fraction of the cost

I think there are a few here that would agree with you.

Thumbs Up
Because it's a failed model (if hunting for a true 9.8). I'd suspect a lot of people have been buying raw Harbinger#1's and none of them have pulled 5 9.8's or else we 'd see more $1,000 transaction (or more likely a decline in that price). It's not Spawn#1, it's Harbinger#1 and a known *SQUEE* to get in high grade.

There is a reverse way of looking at what you say - some of us have spent tons more looking for one and missing the mark with a 9.6 or getting Ebay NM/M. With CGC, you can buy one and forget about it - spend time hunting for other stuff and yeah its expensive but none of it is waste.
unless you wind up getting a CGC 9.8 that was *SQUEE* up by the person selling it...a la Erskines 9.8 1/2 gold last spring/summer...

Or buy my raw 9.4 for $45. :) Postage paid!
You still have that? I thought it was looooong gone by now.

I still have it. Never did list it on eBay and it survived my last sale.

What do you think drops it to a 9.4? Are bottom corners soft or is it the spine? Can't really tell from that scan.

There's only one thing that drops this book to a 9.4 for me:

It was rejected on a CGC 9.6 pre-screen.

Yep the spine looks like a 9.4 to me. Would have been a lucky shot to make a 9.6.
