Great, well now I feel sick.xodacia81 wrote:With the shipping and handling, you shouldn't pay anything over 60 for this. I'd even say it should be about 50 or 54.
I bought a 9.2 from a board member right before the new hardcover came out for $90.
A raw one had just sold on ebay for $200, so I thought I was getting a deal.
I guess I don't understand CGC values enough.

You must be very, very aware that Valiant is a VOLATILE market....that sale for $200+ was by Rhettlori, and they had ANOTHER sale identical to it the NEXT WEEK that barely broke $100.rlute11 wrote:Great, well now I feel sick.xodacia81 wrote:With the shipping and handling, you shouldn't pay anything over 60 for this. Research, research, research.
I know...believe me, I think this has put me on more people's sh!tlists than ANYTHING ELSE I have EVER SAID OR DONE AROUND HERE....but I KNOW that it *SQUEE* off the sellers when I tell people to ASK AROUND BEFORE making a purchase.
Yes, there are DISTINCT BENEFITS to buying from KNOWN sellers on VF.com, and many times, the extra cost is VERY worth it.
However.....sometimes, it's not.
And I'm not going to throw someone under the bus just because I want my friend to make a few extra dollars.
Where I can help, I help. I've given people all SORTS of advice on "hidden" books to look for that aren't on anybody's radar (Tick SE #1, Vampi Blues, Bat books, Amazing Spidey #430-431, etc.), so no one can complain that they haven't been helped at SOME point. And, as well, anyone looking at books who has my number is ALWAYS welcome to call me and ask for advice.
If I don't have the information in my brain, it's just a few strokes away at my fingertips.
I can't give you stock advice, and I can't give you real estate advice, and I can't give you Heisman Trophy winner advice, but I can DAMN sure give you back issue advice.
So....ask BEFORE you buy.

Actually, the biggest problem I have is that as soon as I get a little money in my Paypal account I can actually HEAR it speaking to me. Begging me to spend it. So rational thought is almost impossible.
Last month I made two online (non-ebay) sales that netted me $700. Let's see....a snowboard, a 1984 MOC Storm Shadow, a few comic lots, a couple CD's and a Christmas present for my wife (why does Blue Nile accept Paypal? Why!?!)....and it's ALL GONE.
I'm a miser when it comes to my bank account, but put some money in my Paypal account and I'm a desperate junkie searching for his next hit.
Why can't I be addicted to online gambling or porn like a regular person? Noooo, I have to be obsessed with wasting money online!

Amazing #430 and 431 are part of a relatively rare set of Spideys that suffered the double whammy hit of A. being produced when backlask against the Clone nonsense was still near its height, and B. when the print runs were sliding into oblivion.
As well, they star one of the most popular Spidey villains, Carnage.
As well, #431 is a STUNNING cover.
A copy of #431 sold for $84 on eBay round about 2005.
Is it worth $$$$ right now?
Well, relative to its cover price, sure.
But does it have far greater potential?
You bet.
