I thought the board would appreciate work in progress pictures of a custom Solar and Shadowman being created. Pictures are courtesey of Rateeg.

Figure sanded down prior to final painting.

Looking good. Not sure about the primer they are using on the Solar model tho. Looks like it is textured for some reason. Perhaps they sand them before painting.

I think it was b3studios that had a bunch of custom made figures he showed off in the mailing list and the first version of this board. He should post them again for people to see.

I like this indeed. i made a bunch of Marve characters from secret wars figures back in the early nineties which was real fun but now you can use articulated figures too. Cool.

Was this done with a Marvel Legends Cyclops?

Here is a quote from Rateeg on how it was made:

"ive looked for a perfect base for him and found the XMC iceman with a good body and head. re-sculpted the visor, the head and a little more meat on the chest. after sculpting, i did the dry brush technique which had 5 layers of red from the darkest to the lightest. the final coat, ive mixed red with yellow to achieve the red/orange effect which solar costume usually has. the nuclear insignia was handpainted and added a little shade so it would look like it's cutout and glued."

I like it, but I think going with a less muscular figure would make it look more authentic.
