Heh. Like Teflon.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:Wow! You are like a textbook study in classic internet deflection technique! <snip>
You clearly aren't used to debating with someone who can not only debate your words, but the innuendo, implication, and psychology behind them as well, are you?
Oh, and the correct phrase is "of which you are accusing me."
Watch your preposition placement.![]()

oops! my bad todd, i thought someone here had labeled jae as "pro-vip".Todd Luck wrote:Oh no, I meant the poster on the news site who pointed out the obvious ("That looks like Jae Lee") was labeled "pro-VIP." check this link homeskillet...

it's been my experience that 1 + 1 almost always = 2.Dynamic Forces president Nick Barrucci said he was proud to have helped bring Hellshock back to comic-reading audiences.
"Jae is not only a top talent in this business, but he’s also a close personal friend," said Barrucci. "Working with him on this project, and presenting a completed HELLSHOCK to the fans has been a truly rewarding experience."
"hey jae, remember when i helped publish that hellshock book for ya? how about knocking out some 5 minutes sketches for me! you da man pal!"
suck on that VIP.
most likely if jae lee did do that that work, he was paid for it and i doubt that would label him as "pro-vip".
now if he sought them out and offered to do the work for free then yes...that would be what i personally would call "pro-vip".
it's entirely possible that he asked personally for his name not to be associated with the project.
also, this very easily could've been some young artist who idolizes jae's style...hence the strong resemblance to his work.
i'm not going to waste time getting all worked up over who the artist was...it was crap, whoever it was...regardless of the product involved.
honestly i think the "tr"ashcan was the worst thing vip could've done...they showed everyone exactly what they were planning right there, and really...did anyone like it?
did any fan anywhere look at that monstrosity and go, "holy hell! that's badazz!"
somehow i doubt it.
i suck.

i'd be surprised if priest or bright would be willing to discuss this vip situation at all.
forget a potential nda, i just think they might be tired of dealing with all this mess over something like Q&W...i mean, we're not talking watchmen here.
and for a book to be in the top 100 in 1995, does that mean they sold 5,000 copies?
impressive.

VIP did them as much wrong as they did VEI with their replacement Q&W.cinlach@aol.com wrote:i'd be surprised if priest or bright would be willing to discuss this vip situation at all
Unless Priest and Bright were involved in the lawsuit along with VEI vs VIP, I don't see why they would need to stay quiet.
But be that as it may, like I said, at best Brian could get a straight answer, and at worse he'll get a "no comment".

No, the quote from Priest was from the morning of the auction.BloodOfHeroes wrote:Is it possible that Priest confused VIP and VEI?
VEI didn't take charge (didn't really exist) until a week or so later.
(By "didn't exist", I mean VEI wouldn't have been called VEI that early.)
In other words, VIP waited until just before the auction to file for trademarks,
then on the day of the auction they didn't attend, didn't bid,
and "released" the info about Q&W on Newsarama while
the bidders were involved in the acquisition of the assets.
(VIP had talked to Priest prior to the auction... back when Taddeo
was assumed to be the one who would win the assets.)
VIP knew exactly what they were doing, playing "spoiler"...
What VIP didn't know is that the Q&W situation wasn't how they thought it was.
TimeWillTell clarified later that Q&W belonged to Acclaim (and now VEI)
even though it appeared that there might have been a special case at one time.
VIP jumped the gun on that special case... which didn't apply anymore...
and made an announcement about the one property they thought they had.
(Actually, VIP believed Priest & Bright owned Q&W, and VIP had the trademark application.)
VIP never owned anything of content. They didn't even attempt to get content.
They attempted to register trademarks (which would be labels/titles only)
and when they couldn't get any content, they made up some ridiculous
replacements in that ashcan for the trademarks they were seeking.
They also attempted to use trademarks they didn't own in that ashcan,
so VIP was either an inept lawyer acting on his own, or a shady mystery man
who's not real bright, and a lawyer who had to try to clean up the mess.

so just to actually stay on topic. We will probably never know who VIP is. The lawyer probably has gag orders and sealed records for all participants that probably don't expire until such time as we really wouldn't care anyway.
So now if I mentioned kicking a dead goat or something will MOTAs law take affect and lock this post so we can talk about something more relavant to the future. LOL.

That’s something the ‘audience’ will have to judge for itself. If I have brought something out in Zephyr that the board has never seen before from him, then I apologize to the board. However, if this is not the first time – then what is happening now was and will continue to be inevitable.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote: He is attempting to get the audience to think he is more "enlightened" than me, because he implies that HE is at least aware of his flaws, by "pointing out" how I remain blissfully ignorant of mine. There is nothing overly sophisticated going on here. There is no innuendo, there are no implications or any complex psychology involved. Its a simple *SQUEE* contest.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote: Seriously, where did you learn to debate...?
You clearly aren't used to debating with someone who can not only debate your words, but the innuendo, implication, and psychology behind them as well, are you?
But you’ve made this place a home and I’m not planning on going anywhere. I respect that you won’t back down and I am not going to be doing that either. I suspect you are used to people simply choosing to give up sooner or later, and that expectation is going to have to change. People like me are going to be coming out of the woodwork in greater numbers as Valiant re-emerges as a present-day publishing company.
I can appreciate that.superman-prime wrote:Long as they are out of the way for VE1 im not caring too much on who they were
If they were industry outsiders, then I would truly be unconcerned.
Perhaps with the lawsuit dropped the individuals responsible can no longer impact the production of new Valiant material or wil no longer try to.

there's a big difference I believe.Jason Kolthari wrote:“The lawsuit Valiant Entertainment filed to protects its intellectual property against VIP LLC has been resolved to Valiant Entertainment’s satisfaction. Valiant Entertainment owns all copyrights and trademarks to the Valiant and Acclaim characters, including all right, title, interest, and associated goodwill to the VIP-filed trademark applications,” said Jason Kothari, CEO of Valiant Entertainment.
Thank you for that clarification, myron. You're right, it is a significant difference.myron wrote:The lawsuit wasn't dropped. It was:Geomancer wrote:I can appreciate that.superman-prime wrote:Long as they are out of the way for VE1 im not caring too much on who they were
