The 2008 Cystic Fibrosis Strides for Life Walkathon...
The 2008 Cystic Fibrosis Strides for Life Walkathon kicked off this morning at 0900 hrs. Team Alyssa (as usual) set up the entire get together and Gas City donated water, donuts and ice. Pizza Hut donated over 15 pizzas.
The city of Sierra Vista raised a little over $26,000+ grand total. Team Alyssa and ValiantFans.com was responsible for $18,250 of that total. We kicked *SQUEE* folks !!!!!!! As a whole, VF.com raised $14,500 is a mere six months... awesome job guys.
I want to thank Greg for allowing me to conduct the fund raiser in such a GREAT place. I want to thank Ric (Byrneout) for his fund raising that he did last October which netted us over $9,000+. I want to thank svair and all of his contacts that made the Shadow Man VfVSS a possibility, there was A LOT of hard work that went into that and believe me, it is not forgotten. I want to thank dellamorte for running the zombie project that got the fund raiser a load of money (exact amount is unknown at this time), also to be thanked are ALL the other board members out there who helped in some way. I cannot mention them all and I certainly do not want to leave anyone out so I want to say thank you to EVERYONE who helped us attain our goal and once again.
Next years fund raiser is going to be AWESOME and I will be making the goal quite a bit higher as we will have all year to do things here and there instead of a huge rush towards the end.
I will post pics tomorrow... as it is right now, we normally walk 5 laps, today... I walked 15 laps and am pretty tired and tore up.
Men... thank you for all that you have done this year. It NEVER ceases to amaze me at how much all of you support this event every year.
THANK YOU.

Hey sure I do 'stuff'... but without this message board and the amount of support and caring that comes from here, in comparison, what I do is minimal. But thanks Elveen.Elveen wrote:Make sure to put yourself on the back Brother.
If I drank.... I'd raise a glass to ya.

That's excellent! Way to go Knightt

Not actually what I was looking for but this showed up in todays newspaper. The actual newspaper edition should have more. As typical the newspaper had it all backward, they had 'Nancy' as being the coordinator when it was Team Alyssa and also had no mention of our monumental fund raising but then again, as long as the money gets to where it needs to go and a cure is found, that is really what I care about.Elveen wrote:Knightt wrote:Hey sure I do 'stuff'... but without this message board and the amount of support and caring that comes from here, in comparison, what I do is minimal. There is also an area in which to leave comments, I am asking you guys to go ahead and make a comment supporting what we have done and Team Alyssa. I think that the town of Sierra Vista will be impressed by what we have done (i.e. ValiantFans.com and Team Alyssa).
Another thing is that the city of Sierra Vista has announced during this week of March, it will be forever know as Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Week !!! Awesome...

Snotdrip ended the fund raiser with a HUGE (i.e. more than his winning $400 bid for the Platinum book) donation to our CF website, bringing our total even HIGHER but the Website alone lists :

Funds Raised:
