My daughter and I went to a used book store today and had a couple of great finds.

Found a Gold Key Magnus #46 in pretty decent shape for $1.

But the major find was 39 Bantam Books' Doc Savage Novels for .50 each!!!

There are currently 137 copies of Magnus #1 graded CGC 9.8... and that number is always growing.

I just bought "the first one ever graded".

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0227962752

The CGC Census from January 2001 showed that there was only one copy graded CGC 9.8.
The serial number on this one shows it was graded December 29, 2000.

I only knew it was "graded a long time ago" when I was bidding.
Once it arrived today, I checked the old census and the serial number
and found out it was "the first".

The slab is already 1/3 of the way toward becoming an antique. :D

I considered that one because of the "Modern Grade" label but I avoid sellers who don't ship internationally. Nice to see it went to you.

cool, that's the little book version I had when I was a kid. The treasury version is more impressive, but this one is easier to handle. :thumb:

Correct! I stopped buying new comics more than a decade ago. Currently, if I do buy anything comic-related its basically over-sized Treasuries, old tpb Firesides (ie Bring on the Bad Guys, Son of Origins of Marvel Comics) and pocket sized books. I'm really debating if I start getting digests (DC Blue Ribbon stuff.) I just like size comics I grew up with, I suppose.

I pretty glad there's not a big demand/audience for these type of books, it makes things a lot cheaper for me.

Despite not being able to get to the cheapie Plasm binders some folks were looking for, I did manage to grab some cool stuff over the weekend.

Most notably were the following:

Captain N: The Game Master #2
Deathmate Green (Advance Comics Version)
Magnus #57 (Error Version)
Savage Dragon #1
Solar #4
Solar #5

Got the whole lot out of 4 for $1 bins...$1.50 total.

I ended up getting $20.50 total from the place featuring a ton of Defiant books, including almost a complete run of Warriors of Plasm, all 3 issues of Knights on Broadway along with a couple issues of Powers That Be, and a decent amount of Impact Books like The Comet, and The Fly.

Also, if you haven't checked out the Comic Collector Pro software from http://www.collectorz.com/comic then you want want to take a peek at it.

You can export your comic database onto your PDA, or in my case, your iPod.

So as I'm diggin through boxes and seeing stuff that I might need I can check it immediately against my database on my iPod.

The software was like $40 and in my opinion it's paid for itself already.

One word of warning though, there's a barcode scanner that they offer for $15 on the same ordering page as the comic database. It is NOT compatible with the comic database due to the way the industry does their barcodes on the actual books.

You can use the scanner with regular books, so it might work with Trades and such...but I haven't tried it for that yet.

Anyway, I don't know about "bragging", but I did have a jolly ol' time digging through boxes on Saturday.
