General Notes on VF.com Buying & Selling Etiquette

Post by ZephyrWasHOT!! »

Just a note to everyone....in any buy/sell/trade thread, if you say you'll take something, publicly or privately, make sure you're serious about it. If you have questions, ask questions first. When you say "I'll take it", you're stopping anybody else from making an offer, and they may not revisit the thread again.

So, yeah, if you say you'll take it, it's a gentleman's agreement on the board that...you know....you'll actually take it.

Also...per our ongoing gentleman's agreement, the first person to POST...either publicly or privately...."I'll take it" or some form thereof, is the person who gets it....not the "first person who pays."

I do not believe anyone's welched on paying, and I truly hope no one has. So, if someone says they'll take it, and they're first, that should be honored...and not just "whoever pays first gets it."

Fair enough?

The board is a really loose and friendly trading environment, and it'll help make things go smoooooth.

And we love smooooooth.....

Been on the bad end of this myself.

I'm not only in full agreement here, I think it should go without saying.

But, I'm glad you did. ;)

I agree totally. If someone says they'll take it then deals been sealed. Cant change your mind. Thats why I wont commit to something unless im absolutely sure i really want it.

Speaking of selling etiquette, I vote that sellers should confine their wares to one thread if they are posting multiple items up at the same time, rather than a separate one for each offering. It pushes down other sellers' threads and tends to monopolize page one unnecessarily.

I should've mentioned something when svair was spamming the sale thread!

It's not that big of a deal on this board because the traffic is not that brisk, but it could get to be a problem on a busier board.

Z, thanks for posting this as I was about to do the same. In my last sale, I have already had one person who just ended up flaking out on me after holding the books for said person for about 2 weeks. Also I have another person who I'm still waiting on payment after receiving promises to pay up soon. I will not list any names down, but really this kind of behavior is a slap in the face to fellow board members. Besides screwing the seller over, other members on the board also gets screwed as they get denied the chance of buying the books. Seriously, some folks need to address this behavior as it's very selfish and disrespectful to others. It really came down to the point where I am implementing a 24 hour book hold policy on my next sale due to these individuals. If I don't receive payment for the books within 24 hours, the books that were requested gets thrown back into the for sale list. I should not have to be sending out reminders after weeks of waiting on payment. Anyways I'll end my rant here.

For those individuals which my post is referring to. You know who you are. I'm not mad and will not hold any grudges on anyone. However, I would like to ask these folks to be more courteous and take this more seriously when asking fellow board members to put books on hold for you. Seriously I don't mind holding books as long as folks are serious and intend to pay soon.

If somone pulls out of a deal then they should have the red Valiant stars under their posting name changed to yellow or blue as a mark of shame.

Um. No, I'm not.

And no, they weren't. Obviously. I should HOPE you know me a little better than to ask CGC prices for non-CGC books.

Other than the X-O #0, those books are all less than what they've sold for on eBay, if they sold on eBay. In fact, they were all less than what *I* sold them for, with the exception of the Harby #0 Pink (which sold for $51 in "NM-"), and the Magnus #0 (which svair sold for $35)

Maybe you should do some more research before declaiming "high prices"....
