So how much nonsense is the Ebay Detailed seller ratings?
I ask knowing the answer of course !!
Its full of crap is what.
So i started to use my original account for selling again and have to admit to being somewhat half a**ed before with regards to posting on time
, so the DSR on post times and comms was lower than youd want if you consider yourself anything close to serious. The As decribed and post costs were 4.8/4.9.
So a month ago i started my selling again, but with a sense of perfection you might say.
All worded well and giving more than info for the basic of user without overloading too and all at great prices.a
So its all gone smoothly, with not a single complaint about anything at all whatsoever.
The written feedback all glow with praise on packagin, grades, timley delivery, great comms and so on.
So why is my 30 day average bumping between 4.7 and 4.9 on all four every day.
makes no sense and i watch it like a hwk to try to understand it better.
After selling high grade new books and posting first class same day and buyer recieving the next and leaving glowing praise i see the DSR go down on Comms and item as described.
now sure mistakes happen and people could well be marking me down, or maybe some believe no one deserves five stars on anything unless they're goods are hand deliver in a perfectly packaged bombproof parcel with roses and a box of chocolates.
This is my only thought as to how this could happen.
Why if my simple but effective service is as prefect as i believe and buyers agree, can they have gone down?
What could be wrong with the system say, that makes this happen.
over 30 days they should all be 4.9 or 5.0 without any question.
So if all my buyers are really 100% happy as they say they are, is it a mistake that i occuring when pressing the 5 stars?
If so and again what other reason is there for it, that such a** big time, so people making errors once again still can lave you with eggon your face and it sticks.
Luckily the volume is high, so they will all remain 4.7-4.9 ( no 5.00 as of yet which makes even less sense. How could my comms be down, i have had nothng but really great comms that were both polite friendly and informative with thanks fromt he few who have messaged), but its not right and its buggin the crap out of me.
So who can shed some light on this farcicle nonsense for me?
cheers

Packaging i could accept as lower say 4.7/4.8, but its the 4.7 comms.IMJ wrote:It pretty much boils down to the fact that people will always be critical on likert scales when it comes to cost.
Unless it's free, it could always be cheaper. I'm not sayin' it's right, I'm just sayin' that it is what it is.
I really havent had any problems in the slightest and so why woud someone mark that down and also if this is a 30 day average and my positive feedback is from 103 diff people then a few must have marked me down for comms without having had any contact with me.

Well, a lot of eBayers (mostly "buyers only") don't realise that giving a seller 4 stars out of 5 is NOT a good thing. When, in reality, they should - would you want someone saying you did an 80% satisfactory job when you did at least 99%??? But, some people feel 4 stars is perfectly fine, and they don't realise that if a seller's DSR falls below 4.3, they could be suspended from selling!!!

Which is the scary part from ebay.
The more these stoopid ideas come into play the more people will have their accounts closed which hits them too.
I guess when they came up with this idea they were on acid.

Do you let your buyer know when you have shipped the items? I normally send an email letting the buyer no when it ships and when they should expect delivery. I also leave feedback for the buyer before they leave it for me. Maybe they help get a better rating from the buyer.Draco wrote:Packaging i could accept as lower say 4.7/4.8, but its the 4.7 comms.IMJ wrote:It pretty much boils down to the fact that people will always be critical on likert scales when it comes to cost.

I usually tell the shipping date in the feedback I leave them, and as you do, I always leave FB before they get the item, usually the day I send out the package, if not the same say I get paid.x-omatic wrote:

They should adopt the comic-grading scale for the DSR - a 10 for PERFECT service, 9.8, 9.6, and so on..... and have a minimum of 8.0 or even 8.5.Draco wrote:slym2none wrote:Well, a lot of eBayers (mostly "buyers only") don't realise that giving a seller 4 stars out of 5 is NOT a good thing. There are some things to add to the almost perfect service and i agree that notification of parcel going out could help and feedback is done in lots but normally before they leave for me.
The feedback im getting better at for sure.
So i learned a way to improve and that cant be bad.

I had a very limited sales history on ebay and 1 unhappy customer who tried to strong arm a 75% off 70$ cd out of me tanked my dsr to 3.8 from a 4.6 or so. Now i can not list items so i am just writing off the account and its 40 or sow glowing reviews. 1 customer giving you a 1 or 0 really downs the day when you just start out.

If you only have one bad neg make sure you put a note next to their neg in reply and also wait out the thirty days till you can use the account properly and carry on.twitch wrote:I had a very limited sales history on ebay and 1 unhappy customer who tried to strong arm a 75% off 70$ cd out of me tanked my dsr to 3.8 from a 4.6 or so. Sure some people dont want to buy from anyone under 100% etc, but the smarter ones would look up the neg and see spme *SQUEE* was winding you up.
