Harbinger 1 CGC 9.8 Qualified??
OK, I don't really have one but I may have a candidate for grading. The only problem is that the coupon is clipped out.
So my question would be:
What would be the open market value of a Harb #1 CGC 9.8 Qualified label (coupon removed)?

That makes me wonder ... does CGC know that certain comics are supposed to have coupons or trading cards or something similar? So if you submit a couponless Harbinger #1 that would get a 9.8, would they make note that there is no coupon and grade it 9.8 anyways or would it never get the 9.8 grade because of the coupon missing? and if so, how much would the grade get knocked down with the coupon missing if the book would normally grade at 9.8?

CGC is very aware of the coupons in the Magnus and Harbinger books. I believe, without exception, that if they grade these books and find that the coupons are missing, they will give what is called a 'Qualified' grade (green label instead blue). Which means the basic structure of the comic deserves X.X grade (even 9.8 in cases) but there would be a notation that '#0 Coupon is missing' or something to that effect.Crow331 wrote:That makes me wonder ... does CGC know that certain comics are supposed to have coupons or trading cards or something similar? Now on the open market, we all know that a GREEN label book will not command the same prices as normal BLUE label book even if they are the same grade.
So a raw Harb #1 NM but without coupon MIGHT sell for $10. That's my best guess. But a Harb#1 CGC 9.8 without the coupon will sell for more but only a fraction of the $2000 of a BLUE label 9.8
I'll throw out a guess of $150... maybe more?

If my memory serves me right it was purchased by a board member with deep pockets who admitted that he didn't notice/understand what the green lable was. He was just desperate (like a few of us back then) to get it in 9.8.worldsbestcomics wrote:A qualified green label (no coupon) CGC 9.8 Harbinger 1 sold in January 2008 for $455.
So with that said I don't think it would realise that price again, but it would still get close to it. Just my 2 cents worth.
