Valiant in Wizard #151
Has anybody read the new Wizard (#151)? On page 129, they have a half-page devoted to Valiant #0 issues in it. It really has started.....

Some interesting prices they made up there. I wish I could get those comics at those prices today.

In fact its more like these prices from top to bottom left to right:
$50-60
$40-50
$25
$35
$800
$25
$25.
So they are only off by a tad, little, bity, HUGE number. And since they are suppose to be a current price guide...

I just noticed that Harbinger made the price list as well. Here's the breakdown:
0 Blue, $6
0 Pink, $30
1 w/coupon, $20
2 w/coupon, $10
3-6 w/coupon, $8
7, $5
8-9, $3.50
10, $3
11-40, $2
41, $5
TPB, $10
TPB Blue, $18
Also, 0 pink, 1, 3-9, and 41 were noted for the price going up this month.
Valiant also made the "Movers and Shakers" section as well as having both Harbinger and Magnus books listed in the CGC section

Since I started this thread, here's what happened to me today. I found a book store down in Arkansas, and he said he had lots of Valiants (about 1.5 long boxes), and he had some good books, too. Solar 10, 1st & 2nd listed for $8 and $4 respectively--which I immediately grabbed up. When I went to check out, there he was looking at this crazy valiantcomics.com site and he raised the prices on me to $20/$8, then gave me 40% off. Not too bad, but nothing like what I was hoping for. Also picked up a Bloodshot #6 VVSS, and a Ninjak #1 VVSS without a certificate of authenticity from Valiant, but one of them was in one of those terrible Valiant sleeves. How does this affect their price? I'm just curious.
Anyway, thanks Greg for costing me more money today! Crazy world we live in, eh? There go the cheap books we all love and cherish to find.

Are you serious??? Wow, never heard of that happening to someone. It's another case of a dealer jacking up the prices on a book because someone showed interest in it. I think I would have just left the books there in that case, I still think it's amazing that he actually found this website and decided to charge you full guide price and then give you a discount. When I went to check out, there he was looking at this crazy valiantcomics.com site and he raised the prices on me to $20/$8, then gave me 40% off.
A Ninjak #1 VVSS? Was it embossed with the VVSS stamp? There's plenty of signed copies of that book, but as far as Greg's list goes, there's not supposed to be a Ninjak #1 VVSS.Also picked up a Bloodshot #6 VVSS, and a Ninjak #1 VVSS without a certificate of authenticity from Valiant, but one of them was in one of those terrible Valiant sleeves. If the Bloodshot #6 VVSS was the book that came in the Valiant sleeve, I'd recommend you keep the sleeve, even if you don't keep the comic in it. Both copies of the Bloodshot #6 VVSS that I have come across have came with a Valiant sleeve and it is different from the normal Valiant sleeve in that the Valiant logo on the back is a lot bigger. As far as I know, that's the only way to be able to tell if you have an actual VVSS copy as opposed to just a signed book since it wasn't stamped and didn't come with a COA.

OK, OK, my bad. It's not a VVSS, but is signed by Quesada and May (I think). Nice looking book, but it isn't embossed like Rai #9 is.A Ninjak #1 VVSS? Was it embossed with the VVSS stamp? There's plenty of signed copies of that book, but as far as Greg's list goes, there's not supposed to be a Ninjak #1 VVSS.
The Bloodshot #6 is the one that came in the Valiant Sleeve. Signed by VanHook and Perlin.
Also picked up an Eternal Warrior #10 signed by Mark Amoretti and K. VanHook that was signed at the Motor City Comic Bon in 1993.
I was able to rescue an A&A #0, EW #4, and Rai #0 for just a couple of bucks.
The best find was a Harbinger TPB 2nd print for only $3.60.
All in all 10 books for $65 with tax. Not a great haul, but hey, I filled in at least two holes and padded #'s on some good books!
Heck, I even told the guy that he wasn't supposed to know about this site, and he just chuckled

Hi all! I bought this latest Wizard & saw the Valiant bits in there & I got so excited I decided to come back here (finally) & recreate my profile. My eyes popped outta my head (almost) when I saw they acknowledged the Bloodshot 0 error. Wrong pic but still is nice to have a "voice" in a major comic publication again. Hope it keeps rolling. It's great to be back! Thanks for getting the board back up Greg! I have more time now, so I hope to post more often. ~Erskine

He raised the price on you? I don't think I could handle.johnpaulbill wrote:Since I started this thread, here's what happened to me today. Total props to Ryan for getting the word out there in Wizard (not me...Wizard Ryan...the only thing I'm good for is sweeping floors). I'll probably never complete my Pre-Unity collection now...but I'd rather see those who are willing to buy these issue start collecting Valiants again then me having a whole set.

Don't worry, Ryan, even if Wizard brings 500 people back to Valiant, it will bring 20,000 pre-Unities out of comic shop back rooms. I'm guessing prices will actually go down. Not on the super-rare books (because, as Greg has said before, there's a point at which one of us won't let it go for cheap and we'll just pick up another copy.)

Probably to a certain extent...but for most of those pre-unity issues there simply aren't those types of number out there...there may be hundreds in back rooms, but not thousands...Shakespeare wrote:Don't worry, Ryan, even if Wizard brings 500 people back to Valiant, it will bring 20,000 pre-Unities out of comic shop back rooms. Good to have you back!
I'm surprised that you haven't been here, but you've been reading Wizard?
Is that what you've learned after all these years?!?
(Just kidding)
For the other posts above... I agree...
Mainstream attention could draw out the "hidden copies" of these books,
which could lower the prices if there is a flood of books on Ebay.
Lower prices are great for anyone buying...
so I guess we should just see what happens!
