I am probably being very dense today so I apologise - but

It's not you, it's me.
We have a some armchair quarterbacks who can and will tell you what VEI should do (and/or what they're doing wrong), but they're leading with their hearts, not with their heads.
VALIANT lover-centric decisions will often be poor business decisions, I say (quality tales, competent art and a non-prohibitive price point excepted, as that's not VL-centric). And the VFC/Diamond poll differences is a nice illustration of that to me. Well, it's vindication to me, but it's a nicely illustrated vidication.

So would calling on VEI to actually refute my concerns that I have about their capability to be a viable publisher, and more importantly what I feel their true motives are as opposed to what *I believe* they want us to perceive those motives to be, would this be leading with heart or head?

First (and only to let the record show), my comment was not directed at any of the "What is VEI up to?/I wish they'd say something to us" people/threads. It was directed at more specific, you know, publishing suggestions.
I'd say you're leading with the heart, as Dinesh's last official communique here was, essentially, "We're working on some stuff and will not posting on the boards for the forseeable future."
And, I've posted many times that VEI has never claimed to be a comics publisher. And that's using their own words (those who haven't checked out their website can do so to see those very words). But, also using their own words, they plan to publish pamphlets at some point in time. So anyone who wants to believe that VEI is primarily a funnybook company is leading with the heart as well.
I have some emotional engagement around this issue, myself, and would love to know more. But I've been in business long enough to know that, for me, spare me any words that aren't accompanied by actions. And, if the time isn't right to share what those actions are, I'd rather hear the sound of silence. But that's just me.
