New Webcomics at Yocomics.net

Post by charles_yo »

hey guys, finally put my money where my wouth was and decided to do the comics that have been in my head forever. I've created Yocomics.net to host all the work that I'll be doing. The first story, The Carnival: The Human Hourglass is starting and I'll be putting more pages up each week.

Take a look and let me knwo what you think. Under the commission pages you find a few that I've done for the kind folks here, and some cool stuff under inks as well.

http://www.yocomics.net/

thanks all for taking the time to click over~!

Great artwork as usual, Charles. The story has a gritty and kinda seedy feel to it, like an old detective movie. Good luck with the book.

thanks guys. definitely going for the old "detective movie" look, except that there are sci fi elements that will come in. not on this story, which is a getting the feet wet story, but on a bunch of the others that i've planned.

Now finding the time to get to them is another matter. but i'm trying. I've had the basis for one of the stories from back when I was at Valiant!

I'll post when the next pages are up

Noir done well is a rarity these days.

Excellent tale, this. Of course, we all knew you had the artistic chops, but I'm very impressed with your scribing, as well. You are a Rennaissance man, sir!

What I've read has good pacing, nice setting and what promise to be some very colorful characters--color me intrigued and along for the ride!

Congrats on taking the plunge and thanks for sharing!

thanks for all the encouragement guys. always a little scary to put it all out there. especially when you can't blame the sucky story on someone else.

just linked to the correct page 3 with the tones. i had only the line art up mistakenly.

new pages this week!

Well worth the alleged extra time. Pages 4 and 5 have both left me hanging. I'm not sure if this is your intent, but it's working!

Keep 'em coming. I'm in it for the duration, sir!

seriously the intent!

i subscribe to the old theory that you will do almost a minor cliffhanger on the end of each page to get the person to turn the page.

thanks for lookin' guys...really means a lot when you're doing this for the first time.

Then take all the praise I gave about pacing and the writing and triple it. It's working! :thumb:

thanks for the patience and not hating emails....

Page 6 is now up. I'm trying to get ahead on my own self imposed deadlines and this is... well... a whole learning process it what this is. Thanks for being patient.

http://www.yocomics.net/thh/page6.html

Also, I'll be sketching to benefit the Cartoon Art Museum at booth #1930 on sunday from 2pm - 3pm down in San Diego should anyone be going. Might also be sketching on thursday, haven't heard yet.

all right! been working hard to get ahead of the my own self imposed deadline so we should have a steady flow of pages for a while.

Page 8 is up at http://www.yocomics.net/thh/title.html! Almost halfway through the story and hopefully the gap between pages hasn't put everyone off it yet.

I fully admit taking time with the art, mostly because of the day job and being a good husband and dad, but also i haven't gone this far to put out art that i'm not proud of, so i'm really trying to make this art kick some butt.

let me know what you guys think!

two new pages up to check out. One of them is reproduced below.

here is reality: there are only some many hours in the day, and while i've been concentrating on making art, i've been not doing some of the things that i need to be doing in the real world. I'll be posting the rest of the pages as they exist up to the point that i have to stop production, just to get them out there. Just in black and white, no tones. That way you all can at least see how far it went. Hopefully i'll get to finish things later. http://www.yocomics.net/thh/page9.html

sadly, the real world with a terrible economy is calling right now.

Seems like a good mystery and conspiracy story that I'd like to see how it twists and ends. Hope things get better for you!

I know too well about the demands of the so-called "real world." I've really enjoyed the tale to date and can't wait until you're able to get back to it. Good luck and thanks for sharing!
