We chatted about this last night, JLA v3 # 4 is made of win.ian_house wrote:Yep. 'Burn'. Superman v Mongul on his birthday.400yrs wrote:Is this the one by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons? I've got to track that down.IMJ wrote:Oh man, I'd easily give that to Superman Annual #11.
Tim already mentioned it but I'm going with Flash 0. It's a great issue that leaves you with a wonderful feeling once you've finished it. It's one of those time travel stories that works out really well rather than a horrible mess. It's the issue that made me really love Wally West as the Flash.
JLA 4 is another contendor for me. A lot of people hate the idea that Batman as more prepared than anyone but it's a great touch that Morrison pulls off here.

For me, an Ororo-faced Archer looked weird...400yrs wrote:I can see what you liked about it, but I just finished this and struggled to get through it. To me, it was over-written and Archer-faced Storm is a bit disturbing.Dr. Solar wrote: Uncanny X-Men #198, interesting Storm story, and beautiful BWS art.
This was one of those comics I read when I was young that opened my eyes to the fact that comics, even "super hero" comics, didn't always have to be about beating up the bad guy.
A lot of the issues I list are comics that changed my overall view of comics in some way, even if they don't hold up by themselves in an objective way.

I never really cared for Byrne's version of Superman. I liked the full powered earlier version a lot better.Chuck64 wrote:I liked Man of Steel 1 pretty well. The cover for the direct version was excellent.tanord wrote:Man of Steel #1 by John Byrne. Also the two-part "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" storyline by Alan Moore.

His early work for me is some my favourite art from the last twenty years dude.Lightning Strike wrote:Glad I'm not the only one who likes his early work better than his current stuffDraco wrote:What if ? # 59 ..Wolverine lead Alpha Flight.
Early Brian Hitch when i rated his style more than now and its a take on Uncanny # 121. Love that comic.
When he was working Alan Davis there was a point where his style and overall finish was better for me.
