I would really really like to hear some thoughts on the book from those that have received it so far. Even more I would like to hear what everyone thinks of the Man of God preview in the back (last 6 pages after the Armstrong splash).

I have yet to read it... between the dang Anne Rice book I am invested in, regular home stuff, and trying to get the New York thing ready, I don't have time (except I could not post here.....)

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but is it a really good book?

IMHO, yes. I made a more detailed mention of it in the "Do you read, like books and stuff" thread in everything Else.

I'll bump this just in case anyone wants to talk about the story. I'll be back in the next day or so to answer the questions that have been asked. :thumb:

I have not read the TPB, but I just read the online story yesterday. I enjoyed it very much and can't wait to hear what the answers are that are to be revealed soon! It was great seeing some obscure characters again and the art was pretty good.

If they could do it right, Valiant should put out ONE book per month - a thick issue called, simply, "Valiant Universe". That way they can tell stories from all regions of VH1 with a unifying theme. Maybe have a backup story occasionally spotlighting a character. I'd pay $10 a month for a thick comic magazine like that!

How bout this: We talked about putting a lot of easter-eggs into the book but eased off on most due to not knowing what would be kosher. There are a few here and there (who saw 'em? ) but I'd like to know what e-eggs you guys would have put in and where?

Personally, I would have made Jar Jars death far more gruesome.

I really liked what you guys did. The Van Hook bldg was great, Trent's appearance even better. I think you guys had the balance just about right. I know there are some I missed which, to me, just adds to the depth of the overall experience.

Did anyone see the EE in the prison-break scene? Major no-prize for anyone that can ID it and reference it.

Speaking of the prison-break scene. As we went through the story we tried to give a subtle image of the Valiant landscape at this time. Pete in prison, the war brewing in the Lost Land and so on. Little touches that moved the characters beyond where they had been at the end of VH1 and created stories that could be explored beyond Playing God.

I'm re-reading Turok at the moment, and there was a post-chaos effect appearance of Archer in the Lost Land, which I never knew about before-so that's pretty cool. it was weird though, because Archer was a pacifist, but then he battled anyway and then he disappeared again, much like Armstrong in Magnus.

I'm going to have to re-read PG-I'm not recalling much from that prison escape scene.

Just got my PG trade today. Very nice. The MOG story in the back is enough to pique my interest even more than it already was, so that's good. Nice packaging. The art in MOG is nice. I could imagine what it would look like in color but the B&W gives it a certain feeling, much like early to mid 80's undergrounds. Cool stuff.
