LOL, that sounds all too familiar. I won't comment further!dave wrote:you musta been bored to figure that out-
and i din't mean to offend anyone saying that you're all just cheapskates not really trying to win, i was simply wondering if anyone was doing what i thought they might be doing...(convoluted enough for you?)
i'm glad that i've reached this heightened state of self-awareness to the extent that thusly and therefore you are all very much more dumber than me...
I do a lot of eBay stuff, so I knew over 1k that it was a $25 outbid. The subtraction is what took me so long!

I don't disagree about the possibility of people bidding just to bid, assuming it is still going to go a bit higher.

Shipping
I will ship the books however the buyer prefers (although I may limit it to no more than three separate shipments). If you want the key books separately then that's what I'll do.
Also, I wanted to point out again that any readers on this board that live outside the US are eligible to bid provided they will work with me to minimize the shipping issues. I thought this message might be a little buried by now so I wanted to mention it again.

I have to admit, this was sort of what I wanted to see happen--someone posting up an auction for the entire collection of Valiant comics. I wondered how much it would go for, how much attention it would receive.
It's half the reason why I decided to make my own Valiant collection--to see if I can complete my own by going through bargain bins and such and seeing how much it'd be total.

Hey Billy,
I do not know if you have already done so, but I have just new thread on the CGC boards regarding your auction.

Hopefully this will help to drive up the price!
Cheers,

Thanks for the heads up. It's nice to be noticed. I hope this does indeed widen the interest. Greg deserves the credit. He put the web site up, which led me to get a jump on the rush for 100%. If I hadn't found the site, the collection would not have been finished, and now it wouldn't be out there drawing attention to Greg's site. So does this site qualify as a self-fulfilling prophesy? It's looks like Greg's one-man campaign for Valiant and a little help from the rest of us might actually lead to the Valiant revival we've always wanted. That should make us all feel pretty good.
Something to think about, eh Greg!?

Well...I've been away for a few days and look what I've come back to.
I am extremely curious as to what this auction will bring. The speculators will go wild in the last minute.
Did this also include the Valiant Voices???
I'll be watching...and maybe bidding...in the last minute
As a side bar, does anyone have a Bloodshot Platinum they want to sell???

I was one of those "dummies" who figured $1500. I guess the egg is on my face now

If that's true and he wins, should we expect a whole set of 9.8 valiant comics coming to light?ckb wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong - isn't the current high bidder, tdcomix, the outfit closely associated with CGG?

Hell if those comiclink auctions were any indication 3-4 9.8+ books outta this set could more than pay for the entire collection....think that a 9.8 xo gold 1/2 would go for...are there any graded vvss books? what would a 9.8 EW 27 bring?whetteon wrote:If that's true and he wins, should we expect a whole set of 9.8 valiant comics coming to light?ckb wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong - isn't the current high bidder, tdcomix, the outfit closely associated with CGG?

T-6 minutes
Well, this is it. Only a few minutes left until my Valiants are sold. This is a great hobby and I wish everyone well. I'll be around from time to time but as of July, I will be a new father and my Valiant comments will be few and far between.
I'll look in from time to time to see if Greg's site can generate enough interest to get these characters published again. I have a feeling that someone will do something in the future. Just a hunch...
Thanks to Zero, Hillman, Sonicdan, and others who helped me put this set together in the first place.
Best wishes,
Billy

Wow, this was pretty amazing. Anyone remember the collection that went up about this time last year? It didn't get it's reserve, but hit about 1200 before the bidding ended. I bought privately from the guy for about 1500 shipped, so it looks like the value of a "wholesale" collection went up about 25% in one year! Pretty amazing for a "dead" comic publisher.

1500 to 2000 is actually a 33% increase.johnhickman wrote:Wow, this was pretty amazing. Anyone remember the collection that went up about this time last year?
