I'm pretty confident it was a single, prestige format book that Marvel called "Graphic Novel's" beginning in the early 80's. It was a single, original story (much like the somewhat hard to find "Iron Man: Crash graphic novel which was from the same series). The Captain Marvel book was Marvel Comics first GN.

It's been reprinted a zillion times and is actually quite common.

That and the Warlock series in an Essentials style book and kiil that noise on the HC editions, thus raping us collectors by OVER inflated prices!

So i just done the All Access mini and it was as expected, which was quite bland.
It made me glad i didnt read as much of the tosh Marvel did in the mid 90's as i could have considering how much my buddy bought when i quit retail in ' 93.
It felt more Marvel bad than it did DC, but maybe that is just me as i did enjoy more DC by the mid 90's.
My buddy took his time getting all the DC books off the shelf each week, but once he did i was happy for him.
However he missed the boat on these and so even though i owned them before i never picked them up till now.
DC was so much more interesting for me after Zero hour ( which was average at best) and so it was a shame to see the characters so badly and under utilised here, same goes for Marvel too.

I skipped the Amalgam stuff in between as i had read a chunk before and they are all self contained as far as i recall, though could understand how they all tie into the bigger Universe moulding without being required reading.

Anyway im rambling again, so ill come back after Access unlimited.

Utter twaddle all of it.

Walking Dead 1-12 (again)

After seeing the TV show, I actually think I like the show better. I don't think that Kirkman had hit his stride as a writer to this point.

Tony Moore's art is still just fabulous. I can't wait to see his take on Venom.

Some of the Amalgam books were decent - and fun to see the combinations they came up with. Naturally, all of them are skippable - although, Doctor StrangeFate played a bit of an important role between Marvel vs Dc #3 & 4.

Amazing Spidey 647

I'm a bit behind on Spidey, but this was the last issue of the Brand New Day run before Big Time started. This was a good issue. There were a few really good Harry Osborn pages. The Peter and Norah Winters story by Joe Kelly and JM Ken Niimura reminded me very much of I Kill Giants.

I know many didn't like Brand New Day, but I really thought it was refreshing to read care free Spidey stories. I liked it alot.

I'm looking forward to checking out Big Time.

I hear ya, I got it for $43 on amazon. I couldnt pass it up. I picked up the Green Lantern Chronicles vol. 1 a couple months ago, I like them but the larger omnibus format was calling me!

Halcyon 1-3 from Image by Marc Guggenheim (a Spidey writer and the dude who does Resurrection from Oni)

This book didn't get hyped by the creator so it didn't blow up like alot of the other Image books.

This book is actually damn good. It's a 5 issue mini series and the story is pretty interesting so far - What do the super heroes do when there is no more crime?

Be on the lookout for this in bargain bins. It's definitely worth the read.
