I agree, but as long as they don't REBOOT things, I'm going to continue with the Green Lantern books(at least for a little while), although I think I am done with Green Arrow and I won't be picking up any future Flash titles.comicguy wrote:To be honest, renumbering just gives me an exscuse to drop titles!!
I am a firm beleiver that if you have great story and great art, it will sell regardless of how many prior issues of a title exist.

I wonder what it says about me as a comic book fan that I get more excited about "jumping-off points" than "jumping-on points"?
Seems like the perfect chance to bail and buy no monthly comics at all. More money for the quarter-bin!!

Cake AND eat it, too.Knightt wrote:WHY renumber ? I think it is pretty 'historic' for certain titles to be getting up to those large numbers !!!
Of course, fewer and fewer people buy EVERY number one - but some still do.
I can remember my fave comic shop buying CASES of Robin II and McFarlane's Spider-Man.
Some people BOUGHT cases, too.
This way, number ones now - AND high numbers later.
Nobody renumbers at issue 698.
632, however...

I’m okay with a jumping on point for new titles that are presently low numbered anyway. The new JLA sounds interesting enough to check out and that would be vol. 4 or something—no big deal.
I doubt we’ll see much renumbering with the enduring Golden Age books such as Detective, Action, or Batman. (Why would DC give up the distinction of having the longest running titles?) Additionally, with the Batbooks in particular, there have been enough new titles where I just don’t see the need—if someone needs a #1 Batman there’s Dark Knight and Batman Inc.
I also don’t see the Green Lantern books renumbering. The titles have been too popular to start over while changing things in the midst of a new film release sounds like a bad move to me.
All in all, I think it would be good for some titles and bad for others. For Batman or Detective, renumbering would mean me dropping all Batbooks. In recent years I’ve been more faithful to the titles because of my continuous collection back issues.

Update as of a few minutes ago:
Comic Book Resources wrote:Included in the 52 series will be:
* A new title starring Superman written by Grant Morrison.
* Birds of Prey #1 - This new ongoing series will not feature the work of longtime "BoP" writer Gail Simone. In fact, many tried and true approaches to books will be getting a second look at DC in September.
* Teen Titans #1 - The new start for the teen team will be written by "Red Robin" scribe Fabian Nicieza.
* Justice Society of America #1 - Only one of a number of current titles that will welcome a creative team shift, the future of the original superhero team will apparently not involve current writer Marc Guggenheim.
* Wonder Woman #1 - Don't expect the recent changes from writer J. Michael Straczynski to stick when the Amazing Amazon sees another new #1 hit.
* Green Lantern #1 - Even with a new #1, Green Lantern remains in Johns' hands, and readers can expect the effects of major crossovers like "Blackest Night" to stay in place moving forward.
* Hawkman #1 - While fans have known a "Hawkman" series by James Robinson has been in the works since the writer mentioned it on a panel at New York Comic Con, Bleeding Cool's Rich Johnston has been reporting the rumor that the book will be drawn by "Batman & Robin" and "Outsiders" artist Philip Tan.
* Aquaman #1 - No surprises here. The already announced series featuring the sea king by Johns and Ivan Reis will be part of the relaunch wave.

This is exactly where I'm at too, man! I'm dropping all of my DC's and this incredibly disrespectful maneuvering on DC's part is my excuse to do it. I was tempted for maybe 3 seconds with the Jim Lee Justice League book, but then I remembered that he'll hold a schedule for maybe 3 issues before passing off the art chores to another artist anyway.comicguy wrote:To be honest, renumbering just gives me an exscuse to drop titles!!

Woot! I'm down to maybe 4 independent books and 4 Marvel books. I'm dropping all four of the indies in the next order or so, and I'm getting fed up quickly with Iron Man sucking so badly that I'm ready to give up on those too actually...
