Good talking to you especially to a fellow teacher, yeah I was surprised to see those in the quarter bin, got a nice Magnus 12.

30 or so, well, more like only 20, but some nice books to replace the ones I once had....

My LCS picked up a small collection of late ‘50s early ‘60s baseball cards, and hooked me up with this ‘64 Mickey Mantle and a few other Yankee bits for $20.

Thanks guys, I’m really excited. I don’t actively collect sports memorabilia, but I have a soft spot for the classic Yankees.

When Steve, the LCS owner, showed me the collection I thought he had bought them for himself. I didn’t think to ask about buying any—especially not the Mickey Mantle. As it turned out, he only wanted select Orioles cards and the rest were for sale.

I got it on ebay the other night for $81. I had to go after it cuz it was a number 1/200....and it was Futurama. 8-)

The seller also had the other #1/200 signed Comic Book Guy #1 that ended right after this one and that one went up to $145 when time ran out. :!:

Would have been cool to get both together but i'm glad I ended up with Bender and crew. :D

Here's another fun Bongo score... :D

A cool buddy of mine had an in with the Bongo creators at San Diego and scored me this SDCC Bongo exclusive for only $20:

With an original Groening drawn Homer sketch! Always wanted a Homer!

Image

You can tell it's a genuine "Homer" by Groening because he drew his signature "M" & "G" initials on the side of Homer's hair and ear: ;D

Image

And two "Funnies" posters by Sergio Aragones:

With a surprise Groo sketch!

Nice. The Simpsons SDCC was going for big money. I saw mainly (all) Bart sketches. I don't remember seeing a Homer one.

Nice.

I still need to read my copy of Funnies.

The SDCC Bongos seem to sell real high this year. Been watching alot of the auctions. Even the Futurama posters are going for alot too.

Funnies is real good. It's just like the "Solo" issue he did for DC a couple years back. With giant crowd scene puzzle one-pagers that he would draw for the Weekly World News before it went out of business. Good stuff. 8-)

Curious to see how much it sold when the charts come out. :hm:

Scored a Predator/Magnus TPB in 9.0-9.2 for $20. I feel good about it.

And a Solar HC in really rough shape for a few bucks. Still has case, cover and poster, but it looks like someone dropped it in the tub. Interior pages are fine, but its definitely a place-holder in my collection. For the price though I was ok with it.

Finally! I've wanted one of these for 18 years...

CGC 9.8 Superman #75 Platinum
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPERMAN-75-PLA ... 0838184886" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This price is the 3rd lowest in the five year history of 38 recorded sales on GPA.
(I was the frustrated underbidder on the lowest price ever... so this is close enough.) :D
