What comics are you reading now?

I walked to the comic shop yesterday to asked to start a standing order on xo may 2 nd. I asked for thieve of thieves because a review looked interesting.

On the way out, I asked about a relaunch comic, I didn,t know the name. So I said it was a really *SQUEE* image comic with image art, but now it is more normal.

Seriously about four people turned around and said together - prophet.

I said it must be a sign, so brought a copy. Much better now than any previous lie field comic. At least it had some words in it and the story may lead somewhere.

Also read the latest issue of Invincible and loved it. The past page of the issue has got me excited.

First Mark teams up with Dinosaurus and then THAT! Wooooeeeeee Invincible is never predicatable thats for sure.

That's the one book that I hate waiting on my DBCs shipment for. Might have to double up on it. I often do.

i read the first two issues and thought they were a lot of fun too. Very good natured stories with humour. Got issues 3-6 sitting around in my to read pile.

Read Locke and Key clockworks 3 and the guide to known keys. I really love this series. I think it is captivating and wellwritten. I am sad that there is only nine issues left in the series.

Just started rereading cerebus. Read the first two issues which were okay. My goal is to read the whole 300 issue run (unless I get distracted).

In the past I have only read the first 220 issues (through guys), so I would like to finish the series.

Some of those later issues of Cerebus with the walls of text are hard to read, but overall I enjoyed the series very much. Still, nothing beats High Society for me.

I am quite fond of the first 100 issues. High soceity is my favorite.

Just got through issue #9 in my cerebus rereading. The humour really starts to come put in issue #4, and continues to build. i forgot how much i loved this series.

High Society is my favorite as well. I read thru Guys but currently only own thru Melmoth. So much great humor in this series - the 0 issue is hilarious.

I'm now reading Nova #1-25 by Marv Wolfman & Sal Buscema. It's clear that it's intended to summon the classic feeling of Amazing Spider-Man stories from the 1960s. So far, it's been pretty fun - and, aside from introducing Nova, it also introduced the Sphinx (a B-list heavy-hitter Marvel villain).

Jaka's Story is the highpoint for me. Pretty much the whole run from High Society/Church & State/Jaka's Story is pretty awesome.

I think I've read up through "Guys" or "Rick's Story". I should probably get through this beast of a series some day.

I recently read all three back to back as well. The Reborn story dragged I thought, and it wish Nomad had a stronger role early on, but good stuff nonetheless.

Just finished reading Fallen Angel v1. I'm a huge PAD fan and after years of hearing how good this book was, I decided I just HAD to read the book, putting my other "to read" books on the back burner. As with all things PAD writes, he does not disappoint. If you're a fan of PAD's writing, you MUST read this book. I'm ashamed and slapping myself for not reading it sooner and supporting it when DC was publishing it.

PAD has a special way of creating stories and then integrating the characters in it in a way that gives you the sensation that you are right there witnessing the story as it enfolds and he makes you really care about these characters in a way that other writers fail miserably. In fanboy terms...he makes them "cool".

He did the same thing with the Hulk (who I'm not a fan of, and never have been, but have the complete collection of PAD's run), Aquaman (who was a joke of a character until PAD got a hold of him), Captain Marvel, and many others but you get the idea.

In Fallen Angel, he comes up with a pleasantly new concept and a heroine who is not your typical "superhero". She has faults, sins and makes mistakes. BUT, when the chips are down and she knows what the right move is, she kicks butt and doesn't apologize for anything.

I'm now on to v2 published by IDW and I hope it's as good as the first.

If anyone was looking for the Batman The Black Mirror HC by Snyder, Jock and Francavilla, Amazon seems to have them in stock for $20. Not sure if it's a first print or not, but I put in an order so I'll be able to say in a few weeks.

Finally got around to rereading Morrison's Batman. Because it's a bit of a multiple-choice decision in how you go about reading it, even early on, here's how I've gone about it:

Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight 6-10
Arkham Asylum
Batman 655-658, 663-669, 672-681

This is just for starters. I've only actually read up to 676 so far, which is the 1st part of RIP. 659-662 were no written by Morrison, as many of you probably know, and I skipped 670-671 in this read-through because even though they are Morrison-penned issues, they are part of the "Return of Ra's al Ghul" arc which is basically inconsequential to the rest of the Morrison Batman run. The only story bits that I'm missing by skipping those issues are essentially character bits with Damian, and Damian isn't brought back into the story again until 675, where he has a couple of cameo bits.

I began with the "Gothic" story in LDK even though it was published a year after Arkham Asylum because it takes place chronologically before Arkham Asylum. Arkham also thematically serves as a more fitting lead-in to the main run beginning at 655 because the story ends with Batman leaving the asylum after an emotionally and intellectually loaded journey with no real conclusion, and the early pages of Batman 655 refer to Batman having returned from a break renewed and ridding Gotham of almost all major crime (I realize this is actually referring to Bruce's trip to Nanda Parbat in 52, but I thought it also served for this as well). Another thematic link is the fact that Joker is arguably the central character in Arkham Asylum and 655 begins with him being shot in the head and sent back to Arkham.

After RIP, I plan to skip to issues 701-702, the "lost chapter" of RIP and then moving on to Batman and Robin. I am skipping issues 682-683 because they serve more as tie-in issues to Final Crisis, and 701-702 fills in the FC gaps nicely so that Batman's story is more neatly self-contained and FC isn't a necessary epic insert to the story to understand what's happened to Bruce.

This is just a trial to see how it all flows so I'll have a better idea of what I want to do when I get ready to bind these issues somewhere down the line.

Anybody else given this a reread? Any thoughts to add?
