I could get behind that idea.kevinbastos wrote:I still am saying. Rai is in the current title launch. Two stories told within the same book. Parallel stories. Opposite books.
Sorta like the whole Magnus/Rai thing initially. Only STAYING within the time frame.
Have you seen Godfather 2? Remember how the parallel stories were told, flipping back and forth between the two lines, the rise of Michael Corleone AND of Vito Corleone.
That's my cool prediction for the Bloodshot line. Sticking to it. Which leaves space for the Shadowman, still.
Favorite books: Black Hammer, Bloodshot, Divinity, Justice League Dark, Marvel Two-In-One, Thor.

I am guessing the 2 artists has to do with the 2 sets of memories Bloodshot has, but I would be VERY happy to see Rai incorporated into the book. After Gilad, Tohru was probably my favorite character in VH1.

Actually, I'm fine with that. The thought of a new Shadowman still makes me quite nervous. Shadowman was my favorite Valiant title and Bob Hall's run is my favorite run on any book of all time. The only page of original art I own is a Bob Hall Shadowman page. I have a tattoo of the Shadowman symbol. I'm so attached to that book and that character that I'm so scared they're going to screw it up. Steve Englehart, Jim Shooter, and David Lapham didn't get Shadowman right. Mike Baron didn't get Shadowman right. Garth Ennis totally screwed things up. Some people that came after him might have done some good work on a completely different character called Shadowman, but it's not Shadowman. It just seems to me that Shadowman is very easy to get wrong and very difficult to get right. Only one creator that worked on him got him right - Bob Hall. So the idea of someone else revamping Shadowman... makes me want to break out into hives.Crow331 wrote:One thing I noticed in that CBR article is that it said this, "Pierce said that he felt the company needed four series to start out with in order to be "relevant," but that he wants to grow slowly, adding perhaps two more titles within the next year." Nothing that I've seen from VEI so far has given me any concrete reason to fear their take on Shadowman. In fact, it has actually eased my fear a bit. But still, the longer they hold off on him the better as it delays what I know (fear?) will be great disappointment with what they do to my favorite character. I'd rather they not do it at all than to do it wrong. And the chances of doing it wrong are high.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Oh I got ya. I didn't get what you were saying before. You could be right. I hope you are. But in that scenario he still wouldn't have his own title.

Yeah that sounds more like what is probably going to happen and I thought they hinted at that exact scenario in some other article.
Re: C2E2: Valiant - Inside the New #1s CBR
Even though I agree with most of you what you said, I'm excited for them to take a crack at Shadowman and Master Darque, based on what I've see so far. If they screw it up I can always just forget all about it like I did with the Garth Ennis versionHeath wrote:Actually, I'm fine with that. The thought of a new Shadowman still makes me quite nervous. Yeah. I STILL don't know why people got so excited for Garth Ennis.Crow331 wrote: Even though I agree with most of you what you said, I'm excited for them to take a crack at Shadowman and Master Darque, based on what I've see so far. Although issues 16-20 were pretty cool. So were the 1-6 last launch.

It is also worth noting that Eternal Warrior is appearing in A&A, so who knows.Crow331 wrote:One thing I noticed in that CBR article is that it said this, "Pierce said that he felt the company needed four series to start out with in order to be "relevant," but that he wants to grow slowly, adding perhaps two more titles within the next year." That is my only gripe. I think Zeph looks perfect. I like the few changes I see.
Even if you have a nice coat of paint on your place for 20 years it's still nice to update it now and again
I also think the eventual goal would be 8 books or 2 per week each month. That was something Shooter always said he saw as manageable as a start up publisher in order to be relevant in the marketplace, and it still makes sense today. So Rai, Shadowman, EW and Ninjak would seem to be the favorites as the next four given all the VEI teases over the past year.

Re: C2E2: Valiant - Inside the New #1s CBR
Sorry, Kevin, and Quantum & Woody too...but it depends on what role those other characters play in the new books. Up until recently there wasn't any teasing of Q&W and that may have just been for the Twitter contest. The other books are the ones constantly mentioned in press releases, interviews, etc, from VEI, while Q&W is typically brought up by fans first. Though I might expect a new trade on the horizon.kevinbastos wrote:BugsySig wrote:It is also worth noting that Eternal Warrior is appearing in A&A, so who knows.

Somebody else mentioned Zephyr not looking "nerdy" enough. Her eyes are closed in the "photo". That's kinda a nerdy thing to happen when somebody's taking a shot of all the cool kids.

I've never read Preacher. But I was in a shop a few days ago and me and the owner are jawboning about Priest (I was looking for Q&W backissues) and Ennis who were both real big back them. I mention Preacher and he says "It's the best book we have in the store." Maybe I'll give it a look some time.

You should, really. It's 66 Issues, plus 5 specials and One 4 Issue Mini Series. Steve Dillion Does the Whole Main Series run (I love his style), and Glen Fabry Paints every Cover. One of the best and most screwed up comics of all time.jmatt wrote:I've never read Preacher. I've read enough Garth Ennis stuff to have the opinion that if you're read one of his books, you've read them all. Maybe drastic differences on the surface, but they're all really about the same thing when you really boil it down - that God is just as bad as Satan.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
