When they said "War is Coming", I didn't think they meant a twitter war with Rob Liefeld.

Maybe he was an under-bidder on the properties? Maybe he thought, "Damn, that X-O armor would look GREAT with a ton of organic pouchess AND I can just lame out on the feet and make them look like tin cans and no one would realize I can't draw feet!"

Re: Is Rob Liefeld calling BS on the Valiant sales numbers?
NO, Rob does not know about the deal we had offered here. I did tell him on twitter that we ordered 2,000 copies (something I have stated before, not a secret) and he went off saying that it was payola and that now it's all proven. To which I told him that I can (privately) tell him how I already sold enough copies to make my money back. He has my number, he can call me and I will tell him. I just don't want to discuss this type of stuff in an open forum, details. This deal was made because I am a member (since 06) here to other members, it's not something I am going to scream about to everyone.BugsySig wrote:I can barely stop laughing. @JareBearStare @robertliefeld we love Rob. Have only said nice things tonight despite false accusations. Check our love for Prophet earlier
Wow..."Look we said nice things about Rob even he's being mean to us.... see our post about Prophet earlier? See it? It's right there...us being nice.
This is getting funny. I wonder how much this has to heat up to get reported on CBR or Newsarama....they've covered smaller Twitter wars.

I just meant by being informed by a retailer such as yourself that has purchased a very large number, it serves to inform him as to some of the reasons for XO reaching such high numbers. And your simple explanation of having already sold enough to pay for that order, further serves to inform him of the public interest in XO and Valiant. I applaud your efforts and in no way was suggesting you informed Rob of the deal you offered here.paradise wrote:NO, Rob does not know about the deal we had offered here. Re: Is Rob Liefeld calling BS on the Valiant sales numbers?
Thanks, man. If you keep reading our conversation on twitter, it goes a lot further with me explaining that I had at least 40 people buy between 14 and over 100 copies of the book before it even came out. I am trying to explain to him that while he understands an Image customer or a Marvel/DC Customer, he does NOT understand a Valiant fan, which is a totally different animal, and you CAN'T understand it unless you ARE a Valiant Fan. I bought 10 copies of each issue in 1992, I tracked down every freaking Unity cover in every color and every silly pink variant in 9 pocket pages. I know something not many other retailers know.BugsySig wrote:I just meant by being informed by a retailer such as yourself that has purchased a very large number, it serves to inform him as to some of the reasons for XO reaching such high numbers. Re: Is Rob Liefeld calling BS on the Valiant sales numbers?
My question is how this is sustainable? Everyone knows that the numbers are going to drop, but I think it's going to be a shock to some as far as how much of a drop. This board is very excited...enough to order huge quantities of first issues, but when that wears off and we're down to buying 1, 2 copies, what then?paradise wrote:... I had at least 40 people buy between 14 and over 100 copies of the book before it even came out.
You're a retailer...the fact that you ordered 2000 copies is not a big surprise as you realized there was a market you could sell to (this board) and you capitalized on it. The people that ordered 50-100 copies are the ones I'm concerned about. That will not last.

Re: Is Rob Liefeld calling BS on the Valiant sales numbers?
It's true that some dropoff is almost a certainty in the current market. It is equally true that there is a core audience. That said, I think Valiant has to have the patience to find their new audience, because this board alone won't sustain them and I don't think anyone at VEI is hoping for that. That said, I do think there's going to be a false speculative bubble. Hopefully they print to real demand/orders rather than anything else.
