Will Bloodshot break 50,000 copies?

Seeing a lot of buzz for this book on various boards. Plus it is the first release retailers were able to order after all the XO buzz, sell out at Diamond and second printing. XO sold 42,000 (45,000 with variants seems to be the total), so will Bloodshot surpass the prized 50k mark?

I think that more shops will order based on the sales of X-O 1.

Harby might if they sell out and go to a second print, but orders for #1 were due before XO hit shelves. So I think it will be difficult. Long term, though, I expect Harbinger to become the best selling book of the 4.

If Bloodshot #1 doesn't want to be a .50c bin book it will stay the *SQUEE* away from 40-50k.

This speculation is interesting. I plan on distributing a few of the copies from the deals I picked up on xo to a few key people, just to get it into other hands.

My guess is that many shops will still be ordering the twenty copies over the summer, too.

They just need to balance our support vs the outside, too.

Strange how so much comparison is being made to so many of the Walking dead books, and WD is Now Making 8 copies of the issue 100.

The awesome cover on the regular edition will help catch the eye of a lot of comic fans, that's for sure. I'm not sure if 50K is possible, but I'm not going to rule it out.

Just curious, are these the numbers that Valiant is looking for? In this marketplace, 40-50,000 is probably a lot. I know the publishers at Valiant have looked into this, but I'm just hoping for a healthy Valiant for the future!

We've been through that issue a lot on here and the answer is that nobody knows. We know that the smaller, successful publishers like Dynamite and IDW sell in the high teens or twenties and are doing just fine, though they also have licensing fees, etc which VEI doesn't have to deal with. Add in digital to the equation and it's anyone's guess what is needed to be profitable.

I only bring 50,000 up because XO was so close to that number. VEI seemed to have done their homework and hit the numbers pretty dead on for XO. Of course one is always going to see higher orders for a first issue than latter ones, especially during a major relaunch, and we can expect the order numbers to level off at a lower level. Where that will be, though, is anyone's guess.
