Re: What video game are you currently playing?
I keep forgetting X-2 even exists. I love pretty much the entire FF series, but it's hard to rank them. In general, I would say 4,6, 10 and 12 are the ones I feel most connected to, followed by 7-9, and then everything else. There's just something about 12 that really gets me and it may well be the overall design of the game mechanics/world. I am a sucker for the epic feel and this thing has that in spades, something I felt was missing from the PS1 editions. Oh, and the music is perfect, a nice underscore that isn't distracting. Still, if forced to pick JUST ONE...I'd go with 6, either the SNES or Advance version. Simply a great game and easily in my top 3, along with Ocarina of Time and Super Metroid.Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:I never did finish XII. I still prefer IX and X. X-2 is/was crap.xodacia81 wrote:Currently at the Lhusu Mines-first visit-in Final Fantasy XII. One of my fave games and top 4 in the series, imo. I play through it about every year or so.dress spheres....
I'm still playing WoW. I tried Diablo 3. Not impressed. I played SW:TOR for awhile. It was fun to level but the raids were boring. I heard some talk about it possibly going free to play. I don't know to what extent but I'd definitely go back to it if it does.

Decided to go back and replay Fallout 3 and New Vegas again. Amazingly detailed games and well worth the $$$. It sounds weird , but I'm actually having more fun playing the second time around. I missed a few things the first time because I didn't know where to go or I would do something out of sequence and mess up a quest or a chance to get a cool weapon.

Re: What video game are you currently playing?
Still working through Final Fantasy 12. I have decided this time I will max out the characters as best I can. Just beat Fafnir and Deathscythe. Once I raise my levels a bit, I am going after Zodiark. All I have left are the hunts and bosses in the Pharos, Omega Weapon, Hell Wyrm and then Behemoth King and the final stuff during the last set of battles. I may go for a complete beastiary. I want every character at level 45 or better. My "A-team" is currently all at 61, while my "B" set is around 30. I'd like to get the A-group up over 75, with the best possible weapons and armor. It may take me the rest of the summer or I may luck out and get it all done in the next week or so.
Has anyone else ever tried this for this or any other FF game? I've done it with 4 (when it was 2, on the SNES) 6, (when it was 3, on the SNES) and both 7 & 10. Once had a save file for FF4 where everybody had the best armor-I found 5 pink tails to trade for adamantium-and everyone was at level 99 with the top weapons. My best play through of 6 was everyone around 80, with all the magic. I kept the Sword instead of the Esper, to learn Ultima from, even though breaking the curse and absorbing the spell is a bit laborious. Maxed out Knights of the Round in 7 and damn near completed the Sphere grid in 10.

Since you're a big fan of final fantasy I assume you've played Legend of Dragoon. That's got to be my all time favorite RPG.

Re: What video game are you currently playing?
Sadly, no. Along with Chrono Cross-though I have beaten Chrono Trigger a dozen times-those are two of the big ones of that era that I never played. Just never had the time and money. I also came to the party late on Shining Force and Phantasy Star and I have yet to get into Lunar. Never cared for Tales of Phantasia. I've mainly stuck to FF, Breat of Fire, Suikoden, Lufia and the odds n end game, like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, ect. The only FF games I've refused to finish because they totally blow are the real 2 and 3, the later of which is only on the DS over here-or was last I checked. To me, 2 will always be the SNES game, which is really 4. The 2 that basically is a dry run of the SaGa system, which I found worked better in the FF Legend series-which IS the SaGa series, under a different name-was much smoother.Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:Since you're a big fan of final fantasy I assume you've played Legend of Dragoon. I need to pick it up one of these days. Gotta find my old PS1 memory card, though. Main reason I haven't played FF 7-9 in what feels like eons, but has only been about 3 years.Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:You have to try legend of dragoon. It's such a cool game.

I managed to get some "SE" games, too. Ocarina of Time and FF12 are two that stand out in my mind. One, because of the gold cartridge and the other because of the tin container with extras disc.Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:I still have my original color disc version with guide. What's your take on 12? I love it. Everything about it. Combat system, the characters, story, setting, music, sound and graphics. I love how deep it is and I think it's possibly the best one of the series, or at least on a par with 6.Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:Thats the version od 12 I have.xodacia81 wrote:I managed to get some "SE" games, too. Cool. It's good to find somebody else that appreciates it. A truly magnificent game. The big complaint-the gambit system-is sort of like complaining that your hardcover has a dustjacket. You can choose to use it or not, lol. Me, I don't use the system too much, but I find it gives me breathing space in certain situations. As far as I'm concerned, it's just about the most engrossing game in the series, and this is coming from a guy who long held both 6 and 10 as tied for best game ever.Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:I like it. Not really a fan, didn't think it was that highly regarded either. It's been a LONG time since I played it but I remember finding it repetitive and the story kind of vague. That side game with the underwater sport was pretty guff too.xodacia81 wrote:Yes, Final Fantasy 10...I'm not using Roman numerals here.
