A little help, PLEASE!
I have a page that I am seeking help with identifying, was told that it was possible a Valiant page but after talking to Benard Chang I'm having doubts that it is.

Do you mean this piece?
It doesn't look familiar to me. I just quickly paged through the Kieth Giffen run on Magnus Robot Fighter but it wasn't there. I'm pretty sure it's not Valiant.

That is the page, I was just taking a shot that it may be a Valiant page. Been doing research for over a year on the page and I am having no luck.
Thanks

Says "Marvel Comics" at the top. What am I missing?
Re: A little help, PLEASE!
It does happen that pencillers use whatever boards they have available. Much more interesting would be to learn what it says under the tape on top ("PIRT"?, "PERT"?).jmatt wrote:Says "Marvel Comics" at the top. What am I missing?
I do not recognize it as anything Valiant related, nor any specific artist. I do get some vibes, but nothing that holds up.

Re: A little help, PLEASE!
Currently I collect more original art then comics, I have seen DC pages (that have been published) on Marvel board and Image pages on DC boards. Really it just depends on what the artist picks up and starts drawing with. It was suggested that it was a Valiant page but nothing has panned out, I'm just doing my best to figure out WHO penciled the work. It's been a mystery that has bugged me for a few years now. Mr Chang has mentioned that when he penciled pages for Valiant that he used Valiant boards.
The interesting thing is, the one person whose name is on the back has not answered the email that I sent... And that would be Barry Windsor-Smith, which to me resembles his work that he did for Valiant and Malibu back in the early '90s. It really wouldn't surprise me that some smuck slapped Mr Smiths name on it to collect a little extra cash but the resemblance is outstanding in MY eyes. I did not pay anything close to what a Smith page would go for and honestly was surprised to find the page at a yard sale in North Carolina. The lady I bought it from said it was her sons stuff that passed away a few months back and was trying to recoup for his funeral.
As far as the ("PIRT"?, "PERT"?) I thought the same but after a closer look it appears more like the inker of the page was tipping his pen to get a smoother finish. There is no tape on the front of page at all and only a two inch by 3/8th inch piece on the back right corner, hardly large enough to conceal a name.
I have even thought that it was a test page for some rookie artist and I may never find out who penciled that page.
Regardless I do appreciate all the suggestions and maybe one day I will find out who penciled my mystery page.
Thanks,
Slacker

That's NOT Barry Smith. Looks more like Ron Lim in one of the panels.

Re: A little help, PLEASE!
I looked up "Yummy Spoon Food" to see if this would give a hint to the page origin. No luck yet.
But amazingly enough, someone actually took the time to document the appearance of Spider-Man/Peter Parker in his favorite cafe.

Spider-man 2099 page? Or maybe x-men 2099 crossing over. Still think it may be Ron Lim.
