Acclaim characters.
Other than Quantum & Woody, would you like to see any other Acclaim or post Deathmate characters return to the VEI universe? I think if the storytellers at VEI truly wanted to challenge themselves they would successfully combine all the Universes in a un-Shooterinspired way. Just think of the possibilities this could create for future storylines.

Re: Acclaim characters.
I think that many of the post-Shooter Valiant, and quite a few of the Acclaim characters have use-ability and merit. On the other hand, many of the early Valiant characters can be burdensome.
For example - Archer & Armstrong first half - brilliant. Second half? Total garbage. All as a result of writing (and to a lesser degree, art).
Any of the characters CAN work. I'd like to see the bad concepts done well - or better. Troublemakers COULD work. Ninjak could work. Acclaim's Shadowman could work.
What would I WANT to see? LeRoi - as a Shadowman off-shoot. Dr. Tomorrow - really. And of course, Quantum and Woody.

Fully agreed that a version of Dr. Tomorrow could wor; plus the name is cool (or at least I think it is!).kevinbastos wrote:I think that many of the post-Shooter Valiant, and quite a few of the Acclaim characters have use-ability and merit. I'm gonna agree with that. He is too damn cool of a character not to bring back.kevinbastos wrote:Acclaim's Shadowman could work. What would I WANT to see? LeRoi - as a Shadowman off-shoot.

In addition to what Kevin said, I wouldn't mind seeing Joshua Fireseed and the Light Burden return. The Deadside premise from Shadowman was a really cool idea that should definitely come back. I also found the premise of Armorines better with Acclaim. The Teutonic Knight was a cool villain character as well.

Armorines for sure but I don't see most the the Acclaim stuff happening without excellent rework being done to them. And the new Valiant is surely reworking things excellently. No rush to just keep expanding, I could see maybe late next year before dabbling in that water.

Re: Acclaim characters.
I could see lots of those concepts visited (as I posted in another thread) maybe not as new titles, necessarily, but appearing in other books.
Mike LeRoi was already mentioned for a possible Shadowman appearance.
Doctor Tomorrow is a cool concept, but may not work outside of a miniseries or appearance in another book...I'd rather see Timewalker.
An amalgamation of the Valiant and Acclaim Armorines would work as antagonists to XO (govt attempt at replicating he armor)
PunX could work as an arc in Harbinger (one random location that is producing massive numbers of non-Harbinger super powered individuals).
Trouble makers could work in a similar fashion.
Trinity Angels (with a lot of work) has some potential once you cut out the cheese-factor.

They should bring back all Acclaim characters and then kill them all off is the same issue.

I believe the verb to describe rebooting in that particular way is "Flashpoint". For example - VEI decided to Flashpoint the Troublemakers and Trinity Angels.FormerReader wrote:They should bring back all Acclaim characters and then kill them all off is the same issue.

Now we need a comic version of "jumping the shark" or "nuking the fridge"...I'd say "birthquaked" but I think acclaim was beyond jumping the shark at that point.

Was N.I.O. in the Acclaim Valiant universe or was that just some weird-*SQUEE* miniseries?

Re: Acclaim characters.
On the wiki it's listed as "independent properties". Not clear on the meaning since Shadowman, Armorines and the other VH2 books are listed with it. Only PunX and The Outcast are later books listed under VH1.depluto wrote:Was N.I.O. in the Acclaim Valiant universe or was that just some weird-*SQUEE* miniseries?

Re: Acclaim characters.
Ahhhh... NIO. What if..... Writing AND art on a character goes HORRIBLY wrong?
Deny any association with any real part of anything. Like. Forever.
No, no, no.
Look! It's not with US! It's an INDEPENDENT property!
FOR EXAMPLE!

Re: Acclaim characters.
Have to admit--I never read N.I.O. Bought my set for ~$1 apiece back in the day for completion's sake. (Yeah--I overpaid, but whatever.) Never felt the urge to look inside.
