Where was Greg? (August 27-29, 2012)
Ok, no more suspense...
I had a respiratory tract infection that got worse last week, becoming bronchitis.
I went to a weekend walk-in clinic on Sunday and received 5 days worth of antibiotics.
I had been off work 3 days last week, so thinking I was feeling better after a day on antibiotics,
I went back to work on Monday.
Treatment started too late.
I now had pneumonia and I was septic. I began "shutting down" on Monday at work.
Thinking I was having an allergic reaction to the first dose of antibiotics from Sunday,
I asked my co-worker to drive me to the ER.
If you want to know more about the "shutting down" part, read this,
but I don't recommend reading about it on your iPhone from your hospital bed
on the night you've just been told by the doctor that it describes you.
I came home yesterday. I am to move very little with lots of focus on breathing,
but I get to do all that at home. It may be six weeks before I'm "back to normal".
To cheer things up a bit, I'll end with this...

Glad to be here!

Greg, glad you came through this ok, but honestly, to do all that just to be able to have a photo of yourself reading XO in a hospital bed, it's just too much. I understand wanting a XO Gold but this is ridiculousgreg wrote: To cheer things up a bit, I'll end with this...

The one time I had pneumonia was the only time I ever asked to be taken to a doctor. Not fun at all.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Re: Where was Greg? (August 27-29, 2012)
I had double pneumonia when I was 29 and it took two full weeks until I was on my feet again. When I was 19, my appendix burst inside me. I didn't eat or use a bathroom for two weeks in the hospital. I lost 40 pounds, dropped from 175 to 135.
Hospitals ain't fun. But at least you've got some time to catch up on your back issue reading!
Best of health, Greg. Keep your spirits up! Here, I'll bring you some flowers

Thanks for all the support guys!

I'm a little surprised no one pointed out that the IV machine isn't plugged in.
(But I guess you all know it runs on batteries for going up and down the halls walking in recovery.)

Re: Where was Greg? (August 27-29, 2012)
I myself had a bad bout with Bronchitis. I had something approximating heatstroke back in the summer of 2000. Ended up with Shingles-this was late summer-and 5 weeks later, my system weakened, I got sick again. This time it was Bronch AND Shingles. I don't think my body ever fully recovered. I ended up getting another bout of Bronch the following March.

I knew that i've unfortunately had to do that many times. But walking around a hospital can be pretty fun. Nurses are really cool peoplegreg wrote: (But I guess you all know it runs on batteries for going up and down the halls walking in recovery.)
