THE SPECULATION THREAD FOR VEI'S FUTURE BOOKS & PLOTLINES

Post by ShadowTuga »

I didn't find one of those sticky "General And Mostly Unfounded Speculation about the VEI'S FUTURE"" thread across the boards.
If there is one, feel free to merge or close this as redundant, Admins. No hard feelings, I hope. :D

So, I'll start myelf;

-Rai will have his 1st appearance in BS, issue 10, after the prs invasion arc ends.

-Secret Weapons will have a line-up comprised of Livewire, Stronghold, Ninjak and Darpan :o ; major characters will often appear.

- By issue 4 or 5, Shadowman will be the top-seller of the line.

I think Secret Weapons should be new characters..just sayin :?
Rai...I'm really not sure where and when his 1st appearance will pop up. I think they might try and sneak one in on us.
A Ninjak series might be in order now
HARDCorps..I think we will see them SOON!

I think that SOMEone may have been seen already - and we haven't noticed him or her. I also think that Quantum & Woody is on the agenda for the 2013 slate - but uncertain how it will be handled. I again refer to the relative silence of the Priest site.

I also have an odd feeling that something new on the horizon may launch... Sorta a Secret Weapons renaming. Something like a previous release, or including from the pantheon of characters - but with a newer title or grouping. But please, not a Harbinger Red/Blue thing.

The character I am most anticipating is Rai. I hope I don't have to wait for Bloodshot 10 to see him. I heard they teased his image early on... I can't imagine him not having his own book.

I still find it interesting - no Shadowman. HIDDEN (but not hidden) Eternal Warrior. RAI in plain site.

I seriously hope they don't change their mind about making RAI the 6th title early next year... I mean, they haven't confirmed that it will be, just that RAI is coming in spring of 2013 according to the FCBD preview. The EW announcement for winter 2012, as we all know, ended up just being his intro/appearance in A&A.

:hope:

Warren said look out for Harby #7 and Bloodshot #7 for big things, specifically in response to a discussion about HARD Corps, on twitter. I think we will be seeing them soon.

I agree we will see Rai in Spring 2013 right around Bloodshot #9 or #10

I expect Ninjak to be the next ongoing, though I have been pushing for Secret Weapons starring Ninjak for a while. More likely it is just a solo series given the highly publicized XO arc and the Valiant Masters Hardcover Collection.

I like the idea of Ninjak leading a Secret Weapons group comprised of Livewire, Pulse, Mary Maria and other new characters. A real espionage/thriller that would benefit from the various "tech" Harbingers and trained assassins.

After that would have to be an Eternal Warrior ongoing, then Rai. Tose have to be the first 8. After that...? Maybe Quantum & Woody, HARD Corps, Secret Weapons, Dr. Mirage, or even Trinity Angels.

I have not thought about Ninjak in SW, not sure if VEI would want one of their strongest characters not in his own book.

I think they are setting up Livewire as a strong character, I expect her to be part of "Secret Weapons".

I also think Hard Corps is coming soon (If you listen to the LBCC podcast I ask about this and I got a definite ...."response" from both Dino and Josh. Basically I think Toyo and the Harby foundation need more than the "renegades" to deal with. they are a worldwide organization, there would for sure be a countermeasure-esque group. (it takes me back to Mr. Tull and his peeps)

Rai offers so many possibilities. He was one of my favorite characters before they decided to kill him.

I can see Livewire being the new Softcore, I have a theory that she is a PRS mole in Harada's organization. Her ability is to control machines and she's had a lot of exposure to Psiots. She could be the key to making Harbinger abilties available by broadcast to agents in the field.

All though it hasn't yet been revealed I think PRS has government connections and once the lid is blown off this shadowy organization (due to Bloodshot's infiltration?) things may change and a more alturstic (maybe) group may be formed from the ashes of the old PRS to deal with Harada.

Especially if something happens between the Renegades and Harada that really exposes him to the world, once normal people are aware of the Harbingers there would be lot of pressure to come up with response. This was basicly Kris's gambit in Harb #6, her threat was to expose him. Harada probably knows that the only reason he gets away with so much is he is fairly clandestine. If Joe Sixpack and Sally Housecoat really knew about Harada and PRS they would likely flip out!

Maybe the Psiots in the "basement" are there because PRS has been working for a long time on how to duplicate Harbinger powers.

Imagine a team of regular humans (possibly Military, Fire Fighters, Police, EMT's, etc.) specially selected to be a very high profile and public team powered by PRS tech with variable broadcast psiot abilities and lead by Livewire.

There is still so much we don't know about PRS but there are a hell of a lot of threads dangling :hm:

I can see the new HARD Corps being a problem for not only Harada but Pete and the Renegades as well, they would effectively be "the Man" even if the characters were quite likable. More likely it would be mix of some cool members and a few dix as is the real world, I can see a lot of conflict happening here which may make for good stories.

How olds the image. Maybe the plan was Rai, Eternal Warrior before Shadowman but due to demand they pushed him up the ladder.

The image is from the Free Comic Book Day issue... probably due months before the May release date.

Ninjak is also missing.

In what timeline do you bring in Rai. IMO I think they should stay away from future stories and keep everyone in the same timeline. Just sayin :?

My fear would be a Rai in the "modern" timeline would be considered redundant to Bloodshot (not by us of course, but by the casual consumer). Unless, of course, the concept is so out-there away from the norm that it differentiates itself. I think Justin Jordan said in an interview he pitched a Rai series in a crazy, sci-fi, Prophet-esque style. If he's patrolling the boards, maybe he could chime in (if it even was him...me no remember too good no more).

But the two timelines were such a staple of the original universe, and something that differentiated it from most others, that I would welcome it and feel as though something would be missing without it. Even without Magnus, there is Rai, The Immortal Brothers, Psi-Lords, all the Future Force characters and the possibility of a future Shadowman, XO and even Mary-Maria (possibly long-lived now) appearing in the future timeline.

I think they can safely have RAI set in a future timeline. They are already establishing a solid history of main characters existing in Valiant's past, and of course a few of them are more than likely to exist in the future alongside RAI. There could potentially be a Shadowman in the future, Eternal Warrior/Armstrong/Ivar of course could be there, someone could have the XO suit or maybe a Commando suit [Kazuyo Nakadai, anyone?], and there certainly would still be Psiots in the future...

I'm seeing lots of potential for a Valiant 4000AD timeline... though it wouldn't have to be set that far in the future, in my opinion.

Haha, thanks for validating the insanely random information I have rattling around my brain :thumb:

I think it's cool that VEI is open to pitches for any characters and is flexible within the framework of their overall publishing plan. It makes for some cool dynamics and surprising directions.

Not sure if you are telling the truth or towing the company line about Rai, but I won't press and don't mind either way. :D

On the light of recent revelations, my guess is that Rai will appear first as background feature that will eventually replace one of the current 5 books' "previews" page (BS?) after the Harbinger WARS "event/crossover".
