VALIANT Free-View round 2

Post by caxiotis »

So due to the success of my first VALIANT Free-View at Cup o' Kryptonite in Des Moines, IA. I decided to do a second round with the owner.

Link below to discussion of the first giveaway:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38755" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The books we gave away this time were:

1 copy - harbinger #1 Pullbox
1 copy - harbinger #1 Reg
1 copy - Harbinger #1 (Second Printing)
1 copy - X-O Manowar #1 (3rd Print)
2 copies - X-O Manowar #1 (fourth Print)
1 copy - Archer & Armstrong #1 Pullbox
1 copy - Archer & Armstrong #1 (Second Print)
1 copy - Archer & Armstrong #1 (Third Print)

Here is a photograph of the owner with books (one of the A&A books was given out before I took the photo)

The books were given out about two weeks ago and we have had a great response AGAIN! The two books that have had the most effect have been Harbinger and A&A. The owner told me that due to the success of the free-view he had to order full set of harbinger, A&A, and X-O (except issue #6 as it was out at the distributor) for some people. Also, new readership and pulls for these VALIANT Books has increased tremendously and he has had to change his approach to VALIANT ordering again. A very organic way to grow readership.

Also, after doing two of these free-view, the owner finally decided to read A&A #1 and he LOVED IT!!!!! He now pushes this book along with the other VALIANT books. I just let him borrow my "Summer of VALIANT" TPB, so he could read all of the #1's. He is going to read it over the weekend and give me feedback on Wednesday.

Other big feedback I have gotten from the LCS is that when one person falls in love with the valiant free-view book, they normally add the title to their pull list along with all of the other VALIANT titles! This is a testament to the VALIANT stories for originality and creativity.

Anyway, I recommend that any of the members here try this approach to promoting valiant. This is really a win/win situation for everybody. The LCS gets more business, I build rapport with my LCS, I meet new people to talk to about VALIANT comics, customers get great stories, and VALIANT takes care of us with Gold books. Seriously, if you guys have extra VALIANT books that are just wasting away in a box, contact Carson to get the Free-View flyer, talk to your LCS's and get the ball rolling. I am having a lot of fun with this.

Lastly, my LCS owner talked to me about doing a VALIANT Free-View round three focusing on Harbinger and A&A. He feels like we have tapped the market on the other books, but there is still room to grow with these two titles. I plan on doing the round three either this week or next week. I will give you all an update after the round three has been given away and the results are in.
Pull List: I only buy TPB's, HC's and Hellboy comics

Very awesome! I just wish I had extra copies and that I had a local comic shop I could try this at. I have to get mine mail order at the end of every month so no chance to try this. My closest comic shop closed a few months ago.
