VH1 references in VEI
It's a slow day at work, so I brought all my VEI reading copies with me. I'm notice subtle nods to VH1 books. Aram told Gilad his head was filled with onager dung in the old Eternal Warrior. One of the Plantlings suggested Aric probably still thinks the most powerful weapon on Earth is the onager, which in this case means a catapult-type device. I also couldn't help but notice that the name of the little girl he meets in the field is Maria, which was also the name of the first person VH1 Aric met after coming back to earth.
Anything noticing any other subtle nods?

In the first scene where we meet Alexander Dorian there is a building that looks like Orb Industries.KXXX wrote:It's a slow day at work, so I brought all my VEI reading copies with me. It's been discussed that Faith's "costume" is an image to Magnus.
Flamingo once set Ax's crotch on fire, like she does to Huxley.
The Shadowman Loa recites the names Maxim (St. James) and Michael (LeRoi).
The Nunjas in Archer & Armstrong (OK, not so subtle there)

Andy & Flo are "wooden cutouts" in the Archer's theme park.

Re: VH1 references in VEI
Ahh... I remember the Andy and Flo thing now. I do remember catching the Loa and Ax/Huxley gag. I don't remember much of the old A&A, so the nunjas are lost on me at this point (it's been years since I've gone beyond Unity with them). I'm going to go look at the Orb thing and the...homage?... to Magnus.
So cool that there's all these little things.

Can't believe I forgot that onegreg wrote:Andy & Flo are "wooden cutouts" in the Archer's theme park.
The Nunjas were originally cross-dressers they ran into at the Vatican.
Orb cameo: XO #4, page 19, first panel.

There is a Vine agent in the MI-6 headquarters in XO#8 who isn't named, but looks like she could have been Lydia...

Don't know how to post pictures but how could we forget the XO 6 Zircher variant which was a homage to the original Ninjak 5 cover.
I seem to remember some kind of kerfuffle about this very hard to find 1:50

Gotta say the original Ninjak covers were very good, let's keep the homages coming!

Truly those were some of the most beautiful covers that Joe Q drew. Probably my favorites outside the classic pre-Unity and Unity books.Paradigm38 wrote: Gotta say the original Ninjak covers were very good, let's keep the homages coming!

Cool thread.
Missed alot of the referances.
Glad the artists / are going back to pick up on these things ( even though I missed them)
