Re: What's going on with the Harbinger 7 flamingo cover?
Well I'm going to take a positive look at the whole thing.
Back in the day for me.
Comic book hunting, lucking out and finding a gem. This is the fun of it.
Having or finding something valuable, or rare.
I remember finding my xo 1 or magnus 12 or compleating my set of turok.
Now a days big collectors. Get there first and have the cash. I live in a small town and my shop is a speck of sand on a beach. I think its good cuz it mixes it up a little alows smaller shops the opertunity to be able to get a rare book
Ive resorted to buying comics from collectors paradise so I can get variants. With out them its impossible for me to get rare books. You guys are so lucky to have kick *SQUEE* comic shops and comicons. Some of us have crap and get crap.
I really think pull boxes are rarer than reg covers. Comic shops have to ask for the pull box. Most dont.
I would think there would be atleast half as much pull boxes as reg covers.

Re: What's going on with the Harbinger 7 flamingo cover?
My LCS always lists their future arrivals Thursday (for the following Wednesday). It wasn't listed on invoice, so I took a chance, and pre-ordered on eBay for $8 shipped. Turns out the gamble paid off. Of course, it hasn't arrived yet...

Re: What's going on with the Harbinger 7 flamingo cover?
I noticed this as well, I check the new releases at Diamond every Monday. Typicaly if there is a pullbox variant it's listed on the sheet, they don't list incentive variants.kevinbastos wrote:My LCS always lists their future arrivals Thursday (for the following Wednesday). This issue was not listed so I assumed it was a variant (maybe 1:20), that being the case I went to the "big shop" to see if I could get it and they had 4 on the shelf mixed in with a stack of about 20. I bought the best one then went to my regular LCS which orders pretty low on Valiant and they had both covers for me which really surprised me. I ended up getting 2 so I'm happy but reading this thread makes me think something is definetly fishy and it's only a matter of time before I end up on the *SQUEE* end of that stick.
I wish VEI would come clean about this but that is not likely as the whole XO 6 fiasco is still unanswered.

Re: What's going on with the Harbinger 7 flamingo cover?
Exactly. This was the fun in variants back then. You can only get it by luck. I wish that those days would come back as I am getting annoyed by all this completist whining of not getting everything. Variants are supposed to be fun, like striking gold unexpectedly. I hope there would be a variant where they would just be distributed randomly with no ratios and you would just wait in anticipation as to what cover would appear in your pullbox..nonplayer wrote:Well I'm going to take a positive look at the whole thing.

Re: What's going on with the Harbinger 7 flamingo cover?
I used to think of the completists that way too but now I realize they're mostly just venting. I treat them like you said. I've done a lot of hunting around and managed to luck out getting some of the 1:20s at cover price and once I got one for even less. There's also almost always contests out there like for example on Valiant's twitter. I know some people aren't really into twitter or don't get it or whatever but it's always really easy to enter. Sometimes they even just give everybody who participates a prize. they're incredible generous. I've gotten a few prizes now and it's helped me build up a decent tiny collection of cool stuff on a shoestring budget.erwinrafael wrote: Exactly. This was the fun in variants back then. Grrrrrrr my copy has loose centre page (detached from top staple!). Presumably this has happened during the printing/assembly process? Oh well, win some lose some! ![Frustrated :!:](./images/smilies/893frustrated.gif)

Got a copy yesterday my LCS had it held for me. Is this a 1:20? I noticed that started putting pullbox variant on the front covers and this one just says variant edition.

The A&A #5 Braithwaite cover had pullbox variant written next to the UPC code, my flamingo harby #7 just says variant editionGGSAE wrote:All variants say variant on their, pullbox or retailer.MarkRoseHFX wrote:Got a copy yesterday my LCS had it held for me. The A&A #5 was the first time I saw that said pullbox variant. you're right though previous to that I believe all of them just said variant edition.GGSAE wrote:oh really? i guess they changed that...MarkRoseHFX wrote:The A&A #5 Braithwaite cover had pullbox variant written next to the UPC code, my flamingo harby #7 just says variant editionGGSAE wrote:All variants say variant on their, pullbox or retailer.MarkRoseHFX wrote:Got a copy yesterday my LCS had it held for me. Re: What's going on with the Harbinger 7 flamingo cover?
I received both from my LCS in Seattle. The Flamingo copy was perfect, no waves.
They didn't get any copies of the X-O #6 Character Design issue. I had to resort to eBay for that. I did get the Zircher variant at 20% off cover price.

I passed through Lubbock over the weekend and stopped at the comic shop there. They had a small stack of Flamingo covers for cover price so I grabbed one while I was there.

Re: What's going on with the Harbinger 7 flamingo cover?
I swung by my newly subbed LCS (switched from a different location) and grabbed my books, didn't see any flamingos on the shelf. It's possible someone else grabbed one, but I did find a Harby #3 1:20 variant in the back issue bins for cover, so that leads me to believe probably not. Strangely enough I seem to be the only one interested in the Valiant Variants there, and they're ordering a decent number (enough to get some of the retailer variants).

Re: What's going on with the Harbinger 7 flamingo cover?
I have a HUGE problem.
I was at a store a few days ago and I bought a bunch of books. They had 2 flamingo covers on the shelf, so I grabbed them.....
Well I'm sorting through my box and the Flamingo books are not in there! They vanished! Some how they must have been left at the store.
