I'm finding that pre-ordering the variants has a pattern that can be helpful - always pre-order the cheaper ratio variants because the aftermarket milks those, and buy the expensive ratio variants on the 2nd market because you almost always get them at a deal proportionate to the original order price. No one wants those 1:100 or 1:75 variants enough to pay what you would've paid at the pre-order price. At least with most of the Iron Man books. Actually the only one that seems to remain desirable is the first movie photo cover from Invincible Iron Man #1.

That one says it's signed by Stan Lee though, so that would account for the higher price.StarBrand wrote:Spider-Man 700 1:200 varaint at 1,150.00.

I can't help but wonder how people will feel about this issue when someday in the future the Marvel Now movement gets dropped and we see yet another return to 'legacy' numbering - maybe just in time to cash in on a big ASM #750... effectively invalidating the value of this, the most recent 'last issue' of the series...The Spider wrote:That one says it's signed by Stan Lee though, so that would account for the higher price.StarBrand wrote:Spider-Man 700 1:200 varaint at 1,150.00.

The marketing ploys at Marvel have really worn thin on me. I know younger fans aren't likely to be as jaded as I am, but I'm sure it'll catch up to them too...

I think they'll go at least to 800 before reverting back. It would be great if they waited for 1,000 though. I don't think that anyone expects this to be the last ever Spidey book. I think the spike in price is much more content related.

Saga is movin' on up.
#1 - $50
#2 - $20
#3 & #4 - $moving toward $10
#5 - $10 - $15
Likely reason? People who read the first trade (which is alot of people) are going back to collect the singles. I expect this to happen for quite a while.

Think this book may be wider reaching than most other titles on the Comic Market, I hope it brings in new readers.
In the uk prices are climbing swell, even 6, 7 are $10 Seems to be alot of interest, cannot go to the as high aswalking dead due to sagas high print runs of issues. Saying that - if reader numbers keep climbing - supply and demand.

Saga issue 7 47000, walking dead 57000 approx.
Not a fan of the walking dead, but love saga.
Would not be surprised if saga sales surpass twd.

I believe that it will over time. As you mention, the first issues will never be as valuable as TWD #1 just because of the print run, but IMO, Saga has the potential to appeal to more readers than TWD (both regular comic readers and non comic readers). And once the story is done or far along enough, it wouldn't surprise me if movies came out of this with the potential to appeal on a worldwide scale like Star Wars.

I read on wiki that the writer ( I should know his name, alas) doesn't want a movie.
Will not quote directly but roughly said - made the comic contents to exspensive of tv, and not suitable for film due to contents.
So basically doesn't want it to go in that direction.
However, I think it is very 'cinema graphic.' ( their is another word for this but cannot recall it). audiences are getting quite mature in their tastes, and children are watching higher age rated films from a younger age ( unfortunately). has potential, but I am happy to just to read it as a comic.

The wife and I read the first trade and we are currently ordering the singles. The wife said she likes it better in trade and I have to agree. We are probably going to go back to the trades.400yrs wrote:Saga is movin' on up.

Any thoughts what a set of every issue and every printing (not variant, printing) would sell for...I've got one and can't decide when to sell it...400yrs wrote:Saga is movin' on up.

Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Modern Comics
Superior Spider-Man 1 sold out from Diamond ten days before the release date. It continues from Spider-Man 700. It's going for around 5 bucks on eBay, and still hasn't hit the shelves. This is similar to what Wolverine:Origins 1 did in price before its release.

It's just like OMD. Fans should have boycotted buying any Spider-Man books until they retconned it.lorddunlow wrote:But they keep doing it because it works, unfortunately.
