Tolkien's a long, tough slog. Your head will be spinning halfway through the first book just trying to keep the names straight. The Hobbit is straightforward enough, just skip the Dwarven songs, they don't really add that much.Phoenix8008 wrote:That's after I finish re-reading Lord of the Rings that I just started. She can "talk" telepathically with Pete, where the others can only "listen". That means she has some latent telepathic ability I guess. Maybe one day she'll be able to communicate with other non-telepaths.nonplayer wrote:Other than flying what is faiths abilities?

I've read it before, and having seen the movies since then I'll be fine with all the names of the main people. The sideline folks I'm not as worried about. Lord of the Rings hasn't been a slog for me in the past. I read The Silmarillion once...only once. THAT was a slog to get through!jmatt wrote:Tolkien's a long, tough slog. Re: HARBINGER #9 DISCUSSION
Nice pics, Sonicdan! The blood containers do look similar to the piece of the machine they have Pete hooked to. Just not sure what good a container of blood does in a machine that regulates brain waves. There are no iv lines leading to Pete, so no blood transfer. Unless the blood has nanites in it and is controlling the machine? As for how PRS could have it (if it is blood from the monk), that's easy if PRS IS controlled by Harada...

Well, either through Harada, who may be feeding things into PRS through his moles, or because the Monk may have been in PRSs possession at one point. Several of us have hypothesized that the Monk was the person in which the Nanites gained self awareness and went Grey Goo in Nevada.sonicdan wrote:I posted scans to my tumblr:greg wrote:sonicdan wrote:So the machine that Pete is hooked up to....is it using one of the Bleeding Monk's blood canisters?

Now that I can see the pics, there's little doubt they are the same. But are they catching the Monk's blood, or does Harada have a Beta wave emitter to keep the monk in check...?pixierosa wrote:sonicdan wrote:I posted scans to my tumblr:greg wrote:sonicdan wrote:So the machine that Pete is hooked up to....is it using one of the Bleeding Monk's blood canisters?

Re: HARBINGER #9 DISCUSSION
I've always thought Harada was collecting the blood. If you look at the canisters in the Monk's chambers, it looks like there are brighter red caplets coursing through them, like extra large red blood cells. Is this his blood alone, with some nanites(?!?) in it or a combination of his blood with something extra provided by the Harbinger goon squad?
I really hope they answer Dan's tweet about it.

Semi spoilers for those who don't like to read previews....
The May issues of Harbinger Wars and Harbinger make mention that Pete is seeing visions from the Bleeding Monk that leads the Renegades into the conflict. Wonder if a psychic connection with the Monk is a result of him being under the blood's influence?

Well he was able to reach out to Harada without any blood connection, so I would assume he could do the same with Pete.Keith wrote:Semi spoilers for those who don't like to read previews....

I have little doubt the Monk will play a major role in this crossover. It just makes too much sense not to be so.

Re: HARBINGER #9 DISCUSSION
I just thought of something else...who was the Psiot in Afganistan that took out the drone (and operator in Nevada) in Bloodshot #1.
Now it seems likely she was involved with Kuertich, and that power set some how seemed to broadcast all the way to Nevada from Afganistan. What is the story with this chick? I don't think it was Pulse so what is the story there? How did she become part of Kuertich's plan with Bloodshot?
I find the ability to project her power to the other side of the world pretty intriuging....HARD Corps?

Re: HARBINGER #9 DISCUSSION
Okay, how about this:
We have speculated that the Monk is Toyo's father. As Greg pointed out, in Harby 0 he keeps asking "Can you help me find my father?" and later the Monk appears to him and says "Find me...".
But upon looking at the pics Sonicdan posted, I was reminded of another image from that issue: Toyo's recounting of his dream wherein a great Karmic volcano in the center of the universe spews forth red flows of magma which create worlds and universes; Toyo states that in the dream he takes shelter below the volcano.
What if the volcano is a dream analogy for the Monk, with the red flows of magma being the red flows of blood from the Monk? It might make sense that "dream Toyo" would seek shelter near "his father", the volcano.
What if the Monk is capable of creating or transporting people to other realms or worlds?

Re: HARBINGER #9 DISCUSSION
THIS is an awesome idea. I swear, we could just about create a line of comics, get a few issues printed, and then just read the boards for ideas on what to do next as we plot out the upcoming stories. If this kinda thing isn't what they already have planned, then whatever they have planned better be really good to convince me it was a better way to go than some of the ideas people have come up with in these discussions!hawkeyeps wrote:I just thought of something else...who was the Psiot in Afganistan that took out the drone (and operator in Nevada) in Bloodshot #1.
