I know, isn't it great? The idea came from "The Cherimoya Man", Ethan, who sent us in the voicemail of him eating the cherimoya. He picked out each of our clips.

Luckily, I just happened to have a lovely lady at the house during editing time to record the roll call ;)

A lady????????? "hey now!"

What would be cool is if TCM (The Cherimoya Man) could do different clips for each intro.

Another enjoyable episode fellas, roll call was very slick (like it) and great in depth Bloodshot discussion. I actually thought issue #7 was the best issue of the series so far and issue #8 was just ok, so I was very interested why you thought #8 was so good, I guess that's why podcasts are so good when you get to hear the opinions of others. :hm:

Very good episode fellas. I did enjoy covering a couple issues in a row. I don't know if that would work better format wise to stagger it some and discuss a couple issues of each title and then nothing of that title for a couple episodes. I guess it depends on how often you record/release new eps whether it would work well or not. And whether you want to take the hit on being further away from release date when talking about something. It was fine for Bloodshot #7 because that was a flashback issue and all. Might not work so well waiting an extra month for say Harby 8 or 9, or X-O 10 or 11, right?

Loving every episode! And I am totally down with all the Star Wars references. That's pretty much everything I reference too, but nobody ever gets it. :?
And for Bloodshot, I really didn't understand anything that was going on, until I saw these issues, and re-read from the beginning. After that, I feel this series is AMAZING! Very enjoyable now that I see how it all ties together, whereas early on, I was just left scratching my head in confusion.

Very good episode! :thumb: Turns out that I haven't read the last Bloodshot yet, but I'm looking forward to it now. I am also on the boat of not liking Bloodshot at first, but it's starting to grow on me. Still #4, but that's not saying anything with competition like Harbinger, X-O, and A&A.

I also kind of like the idea of VH1 still going on in an alternate place. I see the cons against it, but it was a great universe and I am for anything that keeps it going.

Hey guys thanks for another episode, you're really cranking them out now.

I don't know if I would have wasted valuable podcast space on Marvel but since you did I can definetly chime in as long time (now estranged) Marvel fan.

Basicly the Marvel Universe is like an etch a sketch, a bunch of stuff happens then they shake it up and it's gone. Every story has the whole planet or New York at the very least being destroyed/invaded/mutated and this happens probably 6-10 times every year.

A perfect example of this was Hickman's run on FF, he built a huge story for years and it culminated in a big battle over New York with the Kree, Inhumans, FF, Avengers, Spider-Man, frickin' Galactus etc. etc. etc. Of course the consquences of all this going had about as much impact as a fart in tornado in all the other books in spite of the fact the same characters were directly involved. Now I guess Ultron is going to wipe out the planet, who cares?

The Marvel universe is broken beyond repair and they don't even care they just lurch from event to death to resurection to new #1 whatever. Steve Whacker (a Marvel "editor") regularly comes on discussion boards to abuse fans calling them idiots and trolling them with an open attitude of "we're only in comics to make money, we don't care if the stupid fans hate it they keep giving us their money so to hell with them".

I think their editorial chain goes like this- Accountant to Marketing guy to Editor to Creators with the marching orders being throw spaghetti at the wall wipe off and repeat. Give us more number #1s because they sell more. They just did Marvel NOW which for me was Marvel NOT, this is where I jumped off. Now they are teasing another 52 new #1 reboot whatever facepalm

I think Marvel straight up craps on their fans.

All you have to do is go to the Marvel/Avengers/Spider-Man forums at CBR and you will see pages and pages of people complaining about the books and how they love the characters but hate what Marvel is doing with them. I think as a Marvel fan you have lowered expectations and you always get your hopes up something good will happen but are often disappointed of course you've been doing it so long you forget it doesn't have to be like that.

That's what happened for me when Valiant came back, the more Valiant I read the more meaningless and weak the Marvel titles seemed to the point I stopped caring about them all together. I still buy Hawkeye but care about it far less than any of the Valiant books.

I agree with pretty much everything hewkeyeps just said. I love X-Men... but can't wrap my head around it all anymore. I thought it was bad in the 90's and onward with 4 or 5 titles ongoing. Now you can't keep track because everything (a dozen different titles or so??) restarts every 6 months to 1 year. I had sworn off Marvel untill I saw the New Universe stuff that Hickman is about to do in Avengers. I'm getting those 2 books only and if they go past the New U stuff, I'll probably drop them after that. Besides that, I'm all Valiant. :twocents:

I'm right there with you guys - I was very excited to hear Valiant was coming back last year, and once it started I found it very easy to let go of Marvel books I was reading to keep my budget in line and get on-board with every Valiant book (something I couldn't afford to do 20 years ago). It's very appealing to get to read every story that is contributing to building up a universe from the ground floor, especially with the high level of quality & care put into it all to date. That is what will ensure continued success for these guys, I think. If only more fans knew what they were missing... I also think its amazing what we Valiant fans are willing to do to help spread the word - I really think we go above & beyond the average fans in that regard.

Can that be said about 'Big 2' fans? :?

Which is why I won't do Marvel anymore. Great analogy with the etch-a-sketch.

But this is exactly why the hobby needs Valiant more than ever. It needs new blood, new characters, new cultural touchstones.

You should just make a VF.com-only version that's the raw feed - unedited. That way we get it quicker and get even more tangents, spit-takes, etc. I, for one, love the tangents. I don't even care if the audio is 3 hours long!

Like I said, bring it on! I love a good rambling mess of a conversation. Ask my wife. It may take me an hour to tell a simple story.

Enjoyed episode 96! Totally agree with Elveen's reservations about A&A and how that book fits with the rest of the VEI (or doesn't!). I'm not sure about some of the comedy elements too, although I do think there are plenty of interesting ideas in the book.

I also liked the comparisons on the reading experience of Valiant versus Marvel, interesting to hear how Sean, Chiclo and Elveen are enjoying Marvel now that new Valiant is available!
