Question about Torque: Dysart says it is about male overcompensation ... Worried a bit about handicap angle but he decided to cut loose

Ok the next question I'm thinking about is what new gen zero characters Josh likes to write for most .. Could he envision a Gen Zero book or one of the new characters having their own book one day

Well we could know more about pre-production or production. We only know that they are in the works. Time for an update!tchalla8 wrote:I'm willing to bet there isn't any news that we weren't already aware of.Jonman wrote:Yeah or Ninjak?FormerReader wrote:Nothing on Rai?

I am disappointed that none of comic book websites have any articles on Valiant at SDCC.

Re: valiants comic-con panel
Maybe so but Valiant's release of previews to CBR was timed perfectly, three books right up top for all the SDCC news. That's some pretty good real estate for previews.CBurke76 wrote:I am disappointed that none of comic book websites have any articles on Valiant at SDCC.

Re: valiants comic-con panel
Movies - Dinesh was very direct in saying Valiant is a comic book company first and foremost. He also mentioned that the current state of the industry makes movies inevitable, but they are very protective of their IPs.
Rai - I don't recall anyone specifically asking about Rai. A couple people asked if there would be any new series based on brand new characters (non-VH1 and non-Acclaim). The panel responded by saying they'd like to explore their current IPs first, such as Eternal Warrior, Rai, etc.
Ninjak - No mention of a series, but Dinesh offered a reason for holding off on such titles as Ninjak and Eternal Warrior. He broke down the first five series as follows: X-O as space epic, Harbinger as team book, Bloodshot as testosterone filled action book, Archer & Armstrong as buddy comedy, and Shadowman as magic based. All five are different, and they didn't want to rush to do Eternal Warrior and/or Ninjak too soon because they already had Bloodshot. They wanted to have a variety of ways to introduce the universe to fans with different tastes.
Unity - I think this was the first question asked by Better Than Ezra (Brian), the moderator and organizer of the panel. Brian asked something like, "Can you tell us more about Unity," to which Dinesh replied "No."
The panel was spirited and engaging. It was a pleasure to meet many of you today!!! Great to see you again, Elery!

Re: valiants comic-con panel
To even say pre-production wouldn't be accurate. They are "in development"...that can often take years just to get a script, studio, funding and director in place. I wouldn't expect any major updates for a while.Jonman wrote:Well we could know more about pre-production or production. We only know that they are in the works. If it takes a few extra years to produce a quality movie adaption of a Valiant title/character, then I'm all for it. I'd rather have something worth watching and re-watching than a product rushed into theaters just to make a quick buck.
Which is why I love Dinesh's explanations for releasing new titles. If this was Marvel, we'd have umpteen number of titles featuring Bloodshot alone by now. Yet they appear committed to putting out books that are unique unto themselves while also trying to appeal to as broad of base of fans and genres as possible. Love it.

Amen. I am LOVING the well thought out, slow growth strategy here. Kudos to Valiant leadership! (Warren, Dinesh, et al)String wrote:Which is why I love Dinesh's explanations for releasing new titles. But this all sounds like stuff we already knew and things we didn't seems we still don't. Not to be a wet blanket but was there any big news or reveals at all?
