The spider aliens
Is anybody else kind of disappointed that the spider aliens aren't the villains of the Valiant universe? I always liked in the original universe how they would pop up in all the books from time to time.

Re: The spider aliens
Yeah, I am disappointed. There's been a lot of talk on this forum about them being chessy but I always thought they were pretty cool. And creepy.

Re: The spider aliens
I was initially disappointed until the Vine turned out to be a cool revision.Saying that I still wouldn't mind it if spider aliens showed up in the future.
If I just can't be me ,and the Arrow isn't enough.. then maybe I should be Ra's al Ghul

They're still there, they just have a different name (and no spaghetti heads). I'm sure the plantings are going to pop up all over the place.

The Vine are a much more interesting version of the spider-aliens, imo. Same role, more brains and character.

Re: The spider aliens
They were best when illustrated by BWS. I wish he would have done more with them.
After him, their quality varied, and they were one note villains. But the vine does not have that same creepy vibe.

I see that as a negative. I keep waiting for a vine with some dreads.

They were one note villains. That was the point. You saw a spider alien and you knew they were evil. I like the Vine but they are sympathetic. I like my villains evil not misunderstood.

Re: The spider aliens
I much prefer the Vine as a revision of the spider aliens, specifically because they aren't just a one-note evil villain. They are a fully realized alien species with their own fleshed out culture & motivations. Makes for a more rewarding reading experience for me, personally.Thedinosaur wrote:They were one note villains. That was the point. You saw a spider alien and you knew they were evil.
