The robots remind me of the robots in Futurama.

Sure is far removed from the Magnus we've come to know. To me, it has the same vibe that the awful Acclaim version did.

Okay I read it, better than Turok by far but still felt confusing as hell but probably the closest to "VEI" quality.

I agree. It has a better concept than the spoilers had indicated. Too early to say after one issue how it will be.

I thought the 1st issue was pretty good

It had enough twists about it that made it interesting. And FVL looks like he will explore futurist concepts(Singularity?) that will give it a more updated take on the future.

Its definitely not VEI quality though ... especially for a 1st issue ... the art was lacking in spots.

It makes me sad not to see Magnus as part of the Valiant Universe .. but i'll probably stick with this a few issues longer (i'll probably drop Turok though)

well, that was a little disappointing. I get that Dynamite is trying to do "non-nostalgic" takes on these characters, but this felt more like an "Elseworlds" or "what if?" kind of story. the location and character names are the same, but too much of the story is a departure to retain any familiarity.

also, out of all the Gold Key characters, Magnus has some of the best villains, I was hoping to see at least a hint of that here.

Just read the first issue and thought it was very good. Less of a comic take than I'm used to seeing Van Lente take, but it's still up to his usual quality. The scene where Magnus and 1A are fishing was great. Enough familiar stuff to still be Magnus, but it looks like Fred's going in a whole other direction than we've seen before. Solid first issue!

Oh yeah, Dynamite can suck some of the members here's balls.

My copy is in the mail. Magnus is my favorite character by far so I have high hopes for this. That preview (and the Turok rollout) has me less than optimistic. Well, at least I'll have a nice Rob Liefeld cover to add to my collection.

I read it. And may have even enjoyed it. Certainly much better than Turok.

It wasn't bad. I'm even a bit intrigued. I'll see how issue #2 goes.
