Re: RAI #1 - Cover info
There doesn't appear to be any rules or requirements for ordering the Rai #1 Pullbox Plus.
The only limitation that I've seen is that they indicated that they will not do a second printing on the plus edition and they will not include the exclusive content in the trades.
If necessary, they will likely do additional printings of the regular content.

Re: RAI #1 - Cover info
Cool. Thanks for the info Greg. This is the cover that I'm most interested in because of the extra content and will try and get at least 2 copies ... Because it won't be re-printed it may end up being the most collectible.greg wrote:There doesn't appear to be any rules or requirements for ordering the Rai #1 Pullbox Plus.

My next questions is, who is going to SCCC so I can get my hands on the exclusive. Hopefully Ed has me covered with the other 9 books.

Re: RAI #1 - Cover info
My guess is no to the digital question. I had a conversation with Dino about Shadowman 13X and its lack of digital availability, and it seemed like they wanted to keep it print exclusive for a while. It was recently put up on Comixology (I think), but I don't see the same happening to this material since people have to pay extra for the content and it won't be collected. If it was released digitally, then why bother with a special print addition?

I totally agree with you, as I prefer to read digitally, even though I buy all the print copies. It sucks when I can't read it digitally like with Shadowman 13X. However, if the rationale is pay an extra buck for the extra stuff and we're even going to polybag it so you can't see it without buying it, then why would they make it available digitally? (Because once it's digital, it's free for anyone that wants it - even on Comixology). So far, Image is the only company who does digital right (although Eric Stephenson apparently thinks their DRM-free stuff is pointless).

Re: RAI #1 - Cover info
I just looked on comixology and they do have shadowman 13X available digitally (1.99)
So I don't see why they couldn't put out a digital version of the pullbox plus version. Just make it 4.99 like the printed version (because it is 15 extra pages).
It could hurt the collectability of the print version .. but you can say that of all comics who are part of the digital world nowadays.

13K was released digitally months after it hit print. So it wasn't same day as when it hit the shelves.bygranddesign wrote:I just looked on comixology and they do have shadowman 13X available digitally (1.99)

Well, depending on your personal code of ethics, any digital comic is available through means of debatable legality. You can scan and upload print comics as well, but there is more work involved and the final quality suffers.
That's why Comixology has DRM and you can only read the files through their app. It's a futile attempt to protect the product that doesn't stop piracy, but only makes legitimate customers jump through hoops and have a substandard product that they don't truly own. It's the same failed attempt that the music industry tried 10 years ago. The market spoke, and now DRM-free music is the standard.
Image provides their books DRM-free, and I have purchased tons of books from them since they made that move. I hope the rest of the industry follows suit.

Hmm, I'd better let my comic book shop know I want that pullbox plus. They're usually pretty good about making sure I get all the standard variant covers, but I want to make sure with that one, since it has the 16-page extra story inside (that is the pullbox plus, right?).greg wrote:There doesn't appear to be any rules or requirements for ordering the Rai #1 Pullbox Plus.

Re: RAI #1 - Cover info
Interesting discussion! Yes, I wanted to buy the digital comics off Comixology, so I could put my original Valiants in mylar eventually and never touch them again, but when I realized that you had to use their app, I decided not to do it. I want to be able to read them digitally without having to go online...and I'm afraid because if Comixology ever goes under, I presume you'd lose access to the digital comics.lorddunlow wrote:tchalla8 wrote:you lost me here...how do you figure its free? I have all of VH1 as digital files that I downloaded and can read with my CBR reader, and that's awesome because I've been able to put my pre-Unity and Unity issues in mylar and never touch them again.
I like what you say Image is doing. I will always buy print copies of Valiant, but I wish I had digital versions so I could protect my comics. But again, I'm not going to go with Comixology if I can only access what I buy with their app.
Kudos to you for supporting Image's policy!

I think I might just start getting one cover on new books ... I've always gone for a pullbox when available but I don't really need a ton of extra covers.
