I searched several stores in Iowa and Illinois the past couple of days and I could only find 2nd printings of issues 2-3 of Manifest Destiny. First prints are very hard to find! :!:

According to Comichron, sales were:

1 - 17,371 + 1,823
2 – 12,801 + 1,653
3 - 12,034 + 1,778
4 - 13,291

The + numbers are numbers from subsequent months. It's not clear to me if these are reprint numbers or reorders. #1 might include numbers for the variant. Links to the numbers:

#1's numbers do include the Ottley variant, from what I can tell. Supposedly, the percentage is somewhere in the 5-10% of the 17K for the Ottley cover.

From now on when I'm picking up a #1 and I have a choice of covers I'm always going with the variant. Midtown always seems to have a decent stock of many covers on the shelf, including the variant for MD #1, and I went with the regular cover. Same for The Bunker #1.

I did that with Mind MGMT #1, and I don't think I did myself any favors.

I'm assuming this rule only works when there's one variant.

I listed one of my "reading" copies of Manifest Destiny #1 First Print today on eBay for $34.99 BIN or Best Offer. There was a small crease in the lower left corner of the cover, but the rest of the book was beautiful. I received 4 offers in less than two hours and I sold it for $30.00 with Free Shipping. Man, this is a hot series! :cloud9:

I also listed this set of Manifest destiny 1-5 for $75.00 BIN or Best Offer:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/261449331946?ss ... 1555.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So far, I have received two offers for the set. #1 is a First Print and is in excellent condition. #2 and #3 are Second Prints, and #4 and #5 are First Prints, all in fantastic shape. If someone from the board wants this set, I could do $65.00 shipped. Please send me a PM so I can remove the set from eBay, if you want it.

I have the two #1s you sold me coming back from CGC anyday now, MKB. When I see the grades, I will let you know how they did. No press, subbed them in the same condition as you sold them to me.

This series is kind of like a mini Chew in that all the printings are selling and selling above cover. That happens because people want to read it. My only concern is if that will change after the trade comes out.

If the trade is well received, I'd expect first prints to start climbing more and later printings to drop off.

Hey Slym:

Good luck with your CGC grades. :hope: I have two copies of #1 at CGC too and they are part of my first submission to CGC. I did not send in my Ottley variant and I still have one complete set of the entire series, plus one more "reading" copy of #1. I also picked up the #3 Image Expo variant cover and someday I hope to collect the Long Beach Comic Con Sketch variant. I kick myself for not buying one of the first copies of the LBCC at $79.00! :!:

I could have bought stacks of the LBCC books off the skybound table.
I didn't.

I think for now on it mightbe worth the "risk" to buy which ever variant they have at the shows I'm at.

I am kicking myself for not buying a LBCC while I was there. But I did get another #1 regular and another Ottley at my LCS on Wednesday for cover and $5 respectively. Those were the last 2 copies he had.

No prob. There's another one that interests me as well that's off the radar, but I need to look into it a bit more.

If I think it's worth sharing, yeah. I have to finish reading the books first.

Shaddup, grandpa!

Does anyone know what issues of Spawn, if any, are worth picking up for $1 per book for the sole intent of flipping? Talking regular issues, not variants.

There are a bunch. A safe bet would be #99-150-ish and then #185 to #199. Runs of these can sell good. There was a time that I was selling like #130-139 for like $90.

#185 (non 2nd prints) are always good sellers.

The undies can be washed now. Found them. Haven't taken them out of the bag and boards to grade yet, but with a quick look, they may all be 9.8 candidates. Now I need to find the other copies I bought. If I flipped *SQUEE* quicker, I wouldn't have such a messy comic room filled with books I don't want. detective 647, anyone?

I think later issues newsstands of Spawn can be very-hard-to-find. Some of them easily fetch $20-30 a piece.
