Re: Sales Numbers for Dynamite Gold Key books....
As much as I'm enjoying these and like seeing the talent on these books I'm really hoping low sales will wrestle these books away from Dynamite. Dynamite has a tendency to shy away from their lower selling books so here's to hoping

Re: Sales Numbers for Dynamite Gold Key books....
And people complain about VEI numbers. It took two years for any of their titles to fall below 8k.
I guarantees none of these see past a third arc. Issue 10 would be pushing it. That's how DE operates.

I know Spektors done at 4 there is nothing in the October solicits to indicate new team, so one Gold Key book down.BugsySig wrote:And people complain about VEI numbers. It took two years for any of their titles to fall below 8k.

I think that was either always a mini or was at least changed to a mini prior to the first issue.dornwolf wrote:I know Spektors done at 4 there is nothing in the October solicits to indicate new team, so one Gold Key book down.BugsySig wrote:And people complain about VEI numbers. But the rest are supposed to be continuing and I seriously doubt their longevity.
Honestly, what was the last launched/relaunched/rebooted non-Big 2 universe to last as long as VEI?

Only one that comes close I believe would think is Dark Horse and Project Black Sky, that I believe has hit a year in. Though the branding itself might not be that old.BugsySig wrote:I think that was either always a mini or was at least changed to a mini prior to the first issue.dornwolf wrote:I know Spektors done at 4 there is nothing in the October solicits to indicate new team, so one Gold Key book down.BugsySig wrote:And people complain about VEI numbers. PBS is over a year now, but of all the PBS titles only Ghost was in the top 300 last month.dornwolf wrote:Only one that comes close I believe would think is Dark Horse and Project Black Sky, that I believe has hit a year in. That's a shame. X has been great so far. I haven't really enjoyed the second Ghost series. Captain Midnight has been decent as well.BugsySig wrote:

Re: Sales Numbers for Dynamite Gold Key books....
Holy JESUS are those numbers bad. Damn.
I know I'm gonna sound like a complete blasphemer, but I've actually been liking the DGK books. Magnus has been hilarious (and further cements FVL as a favorite for me), Turok has improved tremendously with the latest arc, and while I wouldn't call Solar spectacular or anything like that I do appreciate how it's trying to mix things up and I do like Erica as a protagonist. And Doctor Spektor can burn in a pit for all I care.
As much as I dream of seeing Valiant regaining these characters and becoming "whole" again, I will admit that I'll miss DGK should it go up in flames, and there's that tiny bit of foolishly naive hope that should Valiant get these characters back what was done with the DGK will be in some way preserved.

August 2014 sales stats for US monthlies are here: http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomicss ... 14-08.html Doctor Spektor sold 5,621 copies.
(I know it's off-topic, but Saga's continued success is striking. Seeing that book and The Walking Dead surrounded by nothing but Marvel and DC titles reminds me of salmon swimming upstream)

I still like what's going on with Magnus (though I am a few issues behind). The rest I dropped pretty quickly since they just plain sucked.

I'd agree with this. Magnus is definitely the run away success for the line. Just to show how well Dynamite has done with it it honestly feels like a Valiant book which is obviously what they were aiming for.Dr Noel wrote:I still like what's going on with Magnus (though I am a few issues behind). Didn't see any data for October on the DGK titles, so here's September's numbers
Turok:Dinosaur Hunter #7 - 6829
Magnus: Robot Fighter #6 - 6286
Solar: Man of the Atom #5 - 5882
How low can they go? A shame, too....Turok and Magnus are really good.

True, on some titles.
However, they are licensed material and Dynamite has shown a track record on these things.
We'll know more once Turok is at #10/11, cause they should either solicit a #13 or they won't AND that would likely be the first sign of "it's dead Jim".

FVL says we are entering the final act of Magnus.
Final act of his Magnus and/or Final issue of Magnus at Dynamite?

FRED VAN LENTE: From the very beginning this Magnus storyline was crafted with a beginning, middle and an end, and now that we’re entering the final act it’s cool it’s gotten such a nice reception from fans and critics. It has actually gone more or less as planned, which is a bit unusual for me.

Because if they sell 25,000 books a year over 4 issues... that's not anywhere near VEI's 70,000.
