the Vine?
NYCC interview of Paolo Rivera:
Could the Immortal Enemy have a connection to...Question: From a design perspective, how did you approach some of the newer aspects of "The Valiant," like The Immortal Enemy?
Answer: I read the script and they wanted something plant-like.
the Vine?

Re: Immortal Enemy thought...
"Plant-like" is interesting
You may be right
But my guess ... the immortal enemy is the environment's way of protecting itself / Culling Humanity so it can continue to thrive. This plant monster is its way of protecting itself from Humanity's destruction of the environment. So "plant-like" would make sense as its answer to stopping Humanity.
If that was true .. then the question would be why would the Geomancer/Earth Goddess fight against the Immortal Enemy? Perhaps the Earth Goddess originally created the Immortal Enemy .. but soon realized it was too destructive / too out of control? Or its just a rogue monster for the environment and it needs to be stopped.
The irony would be if EW/Bloodshot etc destroy the Immortal Enemy ... this ends up NOT being a good thing in the long run as Humanity/Progress continue to spiral out of control and destroys the environment - which leads to why Earth in 4001 is in such bad shape.

I do not think it will be Vine. I really believe it will have a twist, and obviously it will be important in the near future just based on how they are doing it. But rather than figure it out I will just enjoy it.

Great analysis. Hopefully it doesn't turn into The Happening.

LOL that's funny ... that's exactly what came to mind when I started thinking about it ... but I didn't mention it because even though it had an interesting premise it was such a bad moviedavid_albuq wrote:Great analysis. Hopefully it doesn't turn into The Happening.

Re: Immortal Enemy thought...
Interesting thoughts from everyone.
If the Immortal Enemy's origin lies with The Vine, then that raises more questions, such as when/how did it arrive on Earth? So far, we are assuming the Vine showed up in 400AD... Has the Immortal Enemy been in conflict with Gilad for longer than that? Personally I'm thinking it'll be something else, but this is still a possibility.
It could simply be a being of chaos and anarchy. Not evil in a one-dimensional manner for its own sake, but just an example of a lost being made foul & twisted by its own life experiences & place in the scheme of things.
Like a disease.

Yes, BGD's ideas bear resemblance to that idea, I was thinking that too. If it's something along these lines conceptually, I think the IM would be more like an avatar of The Rot, or black. I like the idea of it being something produced by Gaia though...nycjadie wrote:The green and the red?

Re: Immortal Enemy thought...
According to the "The Valiant" webcomic .. The Immortal Enemy is older than Gilad. That's part of what fueled my theory that perhaps The Immortal Enemy was the Earth Goddesses first attempt at creating a protector of the Earth.grendeljd wrote:Interesting thoughts from everyone.
