The Trade-Waiters Guide to Armor Hunters

Post by Keith »

So some of my friends are reading Valiant through the trades as they come out. With the Armor Hunter trades next up on the shipping list, I've been trying to figure out the best way to experience it all without getting to crazy in jumping from trade to trade to read a certain part of a certain issue, and so on. One guy is agile enough to follow directions, the other... well... he just read the most recent Harbinger trade (and has read everything else, mind you), and asked me yesterday "so rising spirit was separate from the harbinger foundation?" facepalm

that being said, I am thinking the best way to read the main trade would be to alternate back and forth with the Unity trade. The Unity issues really seem to complement the main series issues. It's the approach to X-O, Bloodshot, and Harbinger that I am struggling with.

What do you guys think?
Good Morning, that's a nice tnetennba.
The thing about Arsenal is they always try to walk it in...

I read this before ... and my brain hurt. It was like an GIN-GR snaps ice cream brain freeze. :D

Its pretty tough to answer. I'm still not sure the best way to read this via Trade ... Perfect scenario would be to read the issues based on release date (with final XO before AH #4) but I think it would be a pain to constantly alternate between trades

My suggestion for reading order

First 3 issues of Armor Hunters
The full Unity trade
The full Harbinger trade
The full Bloodshot trade
The full XO trade
The final Armor Hunters issue
And then Armor Hunters aftermath

Thats the way I would do it if I was re-reading it through trades

But X-O #29 happens after AH#4, right?

EDIT- Brain fart. Sorry. You are 100% correct.

I wonder if (anfd how) this will get the omnibus treatment.

Marco you were absolutely right

I am like a fountain of bad information lately

X-O #29 should be read AFTER AH#4

Well it IS getting an omnibus, just like Harbinger Wars and its tie-ins.

Re-presenting Valiant's sold-out crossover event in complete chronological order!
480 pages. That should be everything, surely?

The Armor Hunters main trade and the Unity trade are both out. I have suggested they read those two in the following order

Armor Hunters #1
Unity #8
Armor Hunters #2
Unity #9
Armor Hunters #3
Unity #10
Unity #11
Armor Hunters #4
Armor Hunters Aftermath

Thought that made sense.

Why can't they just release an Armor Hunters deluxe edition with all of the necessary issues in the appropriate order by the story? Just put the issues that are already in the Bloodshot, X-O, etc Deluxe books into the Armor Hunters book in chronological order?

The AH collected edition is something I look forward too. Re-reading VEI's output through the deluxe editions has been a real pleasure. :)
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

The X-O trade is out. The unfortunate thing about his one is trying to explain to my trade waiters how the first three issues fit into the story line, and then the jump to the 4th issue being such a dramatic switch from the themes of the previous three.
