BACKGROUND
The VALIANT universe of comics started in 1991 with the re-introduction of Magnus and Solar**.
The first original character was Rai, introduced in Magnus #5. The first original title was Harbinger #1.
The Unity storyline of 1992 brought attention to VALIANT, written as capital letters in the 1990s.
VALIANT was purchased by Acclaim Entertainment in 1994 and Acclaim went bankrupt in 2004.
Valiant Entertainment purchased the Valiant characters in 2005 and restarted the universe in 2012.
It is not necessary to read the 1990s comics for the current Valiant universe, however, these comics
provide the original names, designs, and story influences for many characters reintroduced since 2012.
Generally speaking, the availability of these comics increases down this list. Magnus #5 (1991) is less
common than Bloodshot #6 (1993), and most Valiant comics from 1993-94 are extremely common.
* Two versions of Archer & Armstrong #0: a limited gold edition and a regular edition were produced
** Magnus, Solar, and Turok were licensed characters in the 1990s and not part of the Valiant universe (2012 to present)

Made a chart for the books (plus 3 from 1993) to show the print run comparisons:

Re: Quick reference for Valiant first appearances

I had no idea the pre-unity books sold so well! I seldom see Solar 10 1st prints, I thought it would have a smaller printing.

Re: Quick reference for Valiant first appearances
Looking at Greg's super handy chart, I would imagine X-O 4 is undervalued. I hardly see these in the wild, and the condition is not mint when I do. I wonder if that one has been overlooked. It has one of the lowest print runs in this group, and may not have been coveted (i.e. care for) by as many given that it is a #4.

Re: Quick reference for Valiant first appearances
You forgot to mention Bloodshot 6 VVSS-related. Is the collectability of that book now enhanced?

Re: Quick reference for Valiant first appearances
Although not a key set of characters, I still enjoyed the stories as they developed over time to counter any super being that otherwise couldn't be taken out by traditional means.
CORRECTED!

Where does the Armorines show up in XO #19. I just looked through my copy and could not see it.

I went on a comment Greg made in a Valiant education discussion on the CGC forum. Better I should have checked first rather than take such statements as fact.valiantman wrote:Those just missed the cut for a "one page" printout. X-O Manowar Vol. 1 #25 (1st Armorines)

I hope all these characters show up one day in movies if they are done right.
I believe there are Armorines in X-O #19.

I need to go back and read all of X-O Manowar #19.
COMICVINE: Dr. Plillip Zahn
Comicvine has this book listed as DR Zahn's 1st appearance, who was the creator of the Armorines armor.

Re: Quick reference for Valiant first appearances
Zahn also studied the X-O armor in #19, which provided the insight/tech to create the Armorines. So, the Armorines may not appear in #19, but you might consider #19 the Armorines origin.bosco685 wrote:I need to go back and read all of X-O Manowar #19.
