Yeah, I bid on it. I deliberated using buy-it-now. The seller rating concerned me. If not for that I'd have bought it.Smashey wrote:"was"
Is that you that bid on it? Should of just hit the BIN if so. Its gonna go higher than a g.
$1300 is mine
And actually wont be surprised at all if it were to hit $1500
I doubt I'll win it. On the slight chance I do I'll be happy. If not and it sets a record, maybe it'll pull my Harby 1s in CGC 9.4 and 9.6 up.

I'll be surprised if it hits $1500. That's double the last sale. There's hype, but not THAT much hype.Smashey wrote:"was"

Something to think about....
There are 12 Harby #1s on the census...
There are only 7 Primer 2s.
And 6 Batman 428s.
Something to think about....

It's definately going to be interesting to see what this goes for. I may end up regretting not buying it. We all might.

1,500 won't surprise me. More won't surprise me either. Let's see what happens. I do think the seller underestimated it.Smashey wrote:Was directed at Starbrand, you and me posted at the same time. No, I'm in SELLING mode, not buying.
I really think we are all gonna be surprised with how much this climbs to.

Solar #10 is just as rare (currently) as Harby #1. Granted, Solar #10 wasn't AS popular as Harby #1 "back in the day"....but it was damn close.Smashey wrote:Was directed at Starbrand, you and me posted at the same time. No, I'm in SELLING mode, not buying.

If Solar #10 can grab $1000 same day its listed......
With the return of VEI, and movie news
There were few books that broke the $100 barrier back in 1993...Solar #10 was one of them.
And that Solar #10 was bought by someone who needed it. Unless I'm high on crack, that person already HAS a Harby #1 9.8.
We'll see.....

Guys....what are you basing these predictions on?StarBrand wrote:Someone might be willing to bid even more in anticipation of where this book might be at in a few years. It might look too high now, and might be a great move looking back in a few years.*SQUEE* wrote:This will hit $1500 and I won't even be bidding on it (timing).
Gut feeling?
The people who are paying "the big money" for the books they need already have Harby #1 9.8.
Harbinger #1 on eBay, in raw form, have been selling for $25-$35, the same prices they've been selling for since Acclaim's bankrupcty sale in Feb of 2005.
While 9.6 copies have been slowly going up, there's been no "spike" in price for them.
Same with 9.4s.
So....going by these market indicators, and not just going by "there's going to be a movie" hype nonsense (the film has a Director interested in directing it....do you know how many steps prior to even PRE-production that is?) what basis do you have for saying that it'll hit "$1500+"....?
Again, aside from "gut feeling."
Understand...I'm not saying it won't....and it would be really neat if it did....but what are the INDICATIONS that suggest that this is not only possible, but probable?

If it does sell for $1,500 it wont be someone here surely.
Much better to buy 50 raw copies graded NM and see what you get.
Like ZWH said people here who want this grade with money already have them i imagine.
If it goes as high as $1,500, it will be someone who doesnt know the Valiant marketplace, someone who is buying into the movie hype before there is nothing more than an anouncement that someone wants to do the movie or someone with more money than they know what to do with.
All just IMO of course.

No way you could get 50 copies for $1500 anymore.Draco wrote:If it does sell for $1,500 it wont be someone here surely.

I wasn't necessarily suggesting you could get 50 copies for that same amount, but if you bouught 50 raw copies you might well get the 9.8 and quite a few 9.6/9.4's for which You could recoop a good hit of your money.
If you are paying $50+ bucks in an attempt to get a 9.8 it would be expensive but you would get a better shot a 9.8 buying them from a reliable source for a fraction of the price.
Some folks like to cut the hassle out which is entirely their choice, but for the collector who likes to play the game then it might well be a much better option
Admittedly getting 50 might actually prove difficult in itself
I have picked up two in the last month for a combined £6.00 but im from the UK.
I dont have a 9.8 amongst my hoard but its coming.....
...... i hope.
