A Conan book being hot is very unlikely IMO, just simply due to how many are already in existence and that despite liking them myself, they all feel the same after a while.
So despite a possible shortage on this item (must have been a tiny print run for sure) i cant see people ever caring enough to bump it into hot book status.

You may be right, but I've seen a few of these go for around 20.00 ea. Not much demand, but not much supply either.Draco wrote:A Conan book being hot is very unlikely IMO, just simply due to how many are already in existence and that despite liking them myself, they all feel the same after a while.

I guess if you have seen sales then it must fit the category to some degree, but at the same time there will always be the occasional collector with deep pockets who is happy to pay almost 10x cover to get that last issue (Recent Marvel and DC books that are back to cover 6 to 12 months later are a great example), but there arent more a handful of people trying to get this book to my knowledge, though i like to see what you bring up so it can be monitored and discussed, so lets see what happens in the next few months on this one in particular.StarBrand wrote:You may be right, but I've seen a few of these go for around 20.00 ea. Archer And Armstrong 26 isn't easily obtainable online at all times. For a while, no single copies were listed on eBay. A few weeks ago I listed a NM 9.4 copy which just moved at 8.94 including shipping. Mile High is currently offering a copy they grade at NM for 5.88, and a VF copy for 4 something. Mycomicshop has every A+A issue including 0 in stock, except for 26.
This book is not currently hot, nor is it hard to find, but it's not in abundance, either. It's also presumably tough in strict NM, given the black cover.

Well for me at least.
There are so many Marvel Tpb's that have been published in the last ten years with tiny print runs that were immediately OOP, hence the HTF tag and some price as high as $50 for ones as BIN or finished auctions.

I was thinking the other day that we should start a thread with HTF / High priced trades. That's really an area that could be capitalized on.Draco wrote:StarBrand wrote:Cyberstrike wrote:I know Madrox: Multiple Choice TPB and HC and The Incredible Hulk Visionaries: Peter David TPBs vol. 2 and 4 are hard to find.

Dude, you are missing out. Best comic being produced right now. Number 1 kicked off an awesome story arc. Richard Corben art to boot!Draco wrote:A Conan book being hot is very unlikely IMO, just simply due to how many are already in existence and that despite liking them myself, they all feel the same after a while.

The LCS I go to looked at a copy of Madrox: Multiple Choice at Amazon.com and they were asking $60 for a used copy of it.400yrs wrote:I was thinking the other day that we should start a thread with HTF / High priced trades. What is odd about The Incredible Hulk Visonaries: Peter David vol. 2 and 4 is that a 90s TPB called Incredible Hulk: Ground Zero that collects material in vol. 2 (I think) is still in print.

Does anyone know what the content was?MOST COPIES WERE DESTROYED DUE TO THE CONTENT OF THE 'SUPERMAN'S BABYSITTER' STORY BUT SOME MADE IT TO THE UK (ESTIMATES RANGE FROM 700 TO 2000) MAKING IT EXTREMELY SCARCE!

The story was reprinted in a Bizzarro tales HC a few years back.ian_house wrote:Wow...

The story was about a babysitter who at some point during here crisis hit evening of babysitting allowed super baby to crawl into a microwave, which was subsequently turned on.
Ma & Pa Kent were so happy that she survived the evening without calling them and quitting half way through like all previous sitters, they asked her if she would do more work

This book sells for £100+ in the UK.
I sold my last copy for £150 with some trades too.
Im thinking that copies only shipped to the Uk as they managed to recall US copies before release.

Im pretty sure this would have been ordered less than any other 80pg sq bound books due to being a pretty average looking title, so even if copies had shipped all over, it would still have been pretty big news when the Superbaby story broke and hit $30+.StarBrand wrote:Not fair!Draco wrote:ian_house wrote:Wow...

(But good info.)
However as it only shipped here (so i read in several places) it is a rarity amongst any DC or Marvel book.
I turned one up in a collection of Batman items and cost me a cool 10p.

The story was by Kyle Baker and was called "Letitia Lerner, Superman's Babysitter". The reason it got destroyed was that the comic had a panel where baby Superman is being heated up inside a microwave.ian_house wrote:Wow...

Ironically, that story eventually made its way into the Bizarro Comics book, while the other Elseworlds stories from that comic didn't get published anywhere else. (Although I think the Super-Sons story actually did get included in the Super-Sons TPB, but I'm not sure).

UK guys, here's a cheap set of this book (#1-6) if interested. Looks like a good deal, since the cheapest eBay US copy of #1 is over $20:StarBrand wrote:Conan The Cimmerian #1 regular cover from 2008 seems hard to find and pricey. No copies are on eBay, and mycomicshop is out. At the moment Mile High's search function is bringing back convoluted results, but last time I checked they were out of this book as well.
